For me personally, I appreciate the info as I was not aware of Blurt. Seeing the different opinions in the replies heps to make a better picture of the chain without jumping in blindfully. Since I do drawings, I would not share the same content on another chain that HIVE (to give it the exclusivity, a little like a portfolio) but I am open to any ideas and open to different niches if they can apply to me. I do not see this as an invitation to move away from HIVE, but a supplemental information. So thanks (and to those who commented on this).

I get that some people don't like downvotes, but it is effective at dealing with abuse. Blurt's solution is to charge for transactions, but you can post a lot without investing much, if you want to. There's just not much development going on there. I played with it, but Hive is a much better platform. Just don't bother with Steem as it's not really decentralised. They censored my account. Obviously you made some enemies here, but I don't know all the history. Some people hold grudges. If you can bring people to Hive then please do. They have a chance to earn. I'm not in favour of driving people away from Hive over differences of opinion. It should be open to all. I only tend to downvote when people abuse it with voting rings, spam etc. Self votes are a contentious issue too. Peace.

I don't think Hive is any more toxic than Twitter or other platforms. It can depend on where you stand, but most people just get on with using it and have a good experience. I find it hard to care about Blurt.

BLURT charges people for each action on the blockchain. As I recall, one needs to have about 1500 BLURT for the curation reward for the upvote to be worth more than the upvote. The scary thing about BLURT is the swap. I bought 1000 BLURT then sent it to BLURT. I bought 1000 BLURT the next day and sent it two BLURT. Something went wrong with the second transaction. The 1000 BLURT never showed up in my account! The people at BLURT did respond. But since my second transaction had the same value as the first transaction the money stayed in disappeared status. I guess the lesson is that if you want to send money using the Blurt swap; you should always send odd amounts. Say 1001 BLURT for the first transaction 1002 for the second. That way they can differentiate between the transactions. Of course, I've been paranoid about BLURT ever since. How do I know that the BLURT swap program will work when it comes time to withdraw BLURT. !LUV
