Real Yield DeFi - Once Again, Hive Is Ahead Of The Game
If you follow [DeFi](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-decentralized-finance-defi) trends you will know that "real [yield](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-yield)" is the next big thing among investors but what exactly is it and why didn't we see this narrative a lot sooner?

# What Is Real Yield DeFi?

Understanding this one won't be an issue because once you know what it is you start asking yourself why didn't we do this since day one? I tried asking that same question for about two years now but never got a straight answer from any project in the DeFi space. Farming worthless tokens made enough sense for everyone so it was very easy to brush my concerns off. But, back to "real yield".

The first DeFi project to popularise this term is probably [GMX](https://www.coingecko.com/en/coins/gmx), a decentralized perpetual exchange that... wait for it... **SHARES REVENUE WITH TOKEN HOLDERS**?!?! As it seems many minds have been blown by this rev-share model which is the first one that actually makes economical sense in DeFi.

In short, GMX generates revenue through trading fees and then distributes those fees to [token](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-token) holders. I won't go into the specifics because they overcomplicated the process IMO. What matters is that token holders can get roughly 20% [APR](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-annual-percentage-return-apr) with the current volume. As far as the clueless crypto investor is concerned this is the next revolution in DeFi but did you know that "real yield" is actually a thing on [Hive](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-usdhive) for almost a year now?


# Beeswap Is a Real Yield Pioneer

I know that I sometimes keep mentioning BXT and [Beeswap](https://beeswap.dcity.io/) a bit too much but watching this "real yield" narrative unfold seems so surreal to me. About a year ago Beeswap launched BXT and revenue sharing was built into the token since day one. Trading fees are distributed as rewards to those that stake BXT and paid out in Hive at about 40% APR at the time of writing.

To make things crystal clear, you can get 20% APR on GMX which has a market cap of $500M or you can get 40% APR on BXT, an asset that has a market cap of ~$35K. **Thirty-five Thousand US Dollars**. Which one would you deem a more risky investment?

What blows my mind is that BXT is such an overlooked asset on Hive. Just have a look at the first few liquidity pools by TVL on this exchange and everything should become clear instantly.

At current market prices, we have close to $2M worth of assets in just 4 liquidity pools on Beeswap. Is it rational that the native token of this swap has a MC of less than $40K? You decide that one for yourself.

# Hive Is Ahead Of The Game

In my [last post](https://leofinance.io/@jerrythefarmer/there-is-no-second-best) I tried to make a case for Hive as the superior crypto and this real yield talk just makes me want to double down on that statement. If you zoom out a bit you will see that **Hive was PoS before PoS was cool**, it had the **most stable decentralized [stablecoin](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-stablecoin) before stablecoins were cool** and now we can clearly see that **it was one of the first blockchains to have an exchange that actually distributes revenue to token holders**.

Need I say more?

It is great to see the DeFi landscape coming back to reality because the last two years were a joke. 

**What is your incentive to hold Uniswap tokens if the only thing you can do with them is vote on proposals?**

Apply the same logic to other DeFi protocols and you will quickly realize that we have a house of cards on our hands that no one will want to support in a few months. As soon as investors realize that there is a better way to actually invest in crypto, governance tokens that have no other benefits will have to suffer IMO.

Sharing revenue with investors is the only logical way to approach DeFi and no one can debate that. If I invest in an idea I don't only want to see that idea succeed, I want a return on my investment. For now, there are only a handful of tokens in crypto that can give me just that so I'm sticking with Hive and BXT and riding them both to zero if I have to.

Eventually, retail will have to come to their senses and when they do I'll be there waiting with a fat stack of tokens they now consider worthless.

I have to agree with you here but not entirely. It's hard enough to get a Hive account and learn the basics of the Hive blockchain. Discovering a lesser-known DEX on that same chain is twice as hard. With the amount of marketing going around for Hive and Beeswap which is close to none, we are killing it.

According to the [latest numbers](https://hive.blog/hive-133987/@arcange/hive-statistics-20221121-en) active users have doubled in the recent bullrun. At peak, we had over 10x DAU and now that things have settled down it is safe to assume that we are at almost 4-5X when compared to 2020 numbers.

Hive is destined to grow organically due to the nature of the chain. Considering how other projects are doing in the space Hive is on a steady course upward which is quite an achievement when you think about it.

But yes, it is a shame that innovative ideas that always seem to originate here never find their way into the mainstream. This too shall change over time, I'm sure about it. Just don't know when...

I guess this is the key victory about criptos.
EVM will probably prevail because if you know how to use ETH you will know how to use Avalanche/Cronos/Bnb... The biggest "weakness" of this blockchain is also his biggest "streght", the fact is not linked to the others so is "immune" to contagion if something booms.
