My past livelihoods [my tools]

Prior to my addictions taking hold, and even after that.
I was a painter.
Not fast, but careful, paying attention to detail.

I've slowly but steadily been collecting tools
On the lower right, is probably the oldest thing I have: it may even be horse hair, but since I can't tighten the [ferrule](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferrule) up any longer, I use it as a dust brush.
Of course I have various paint pan, roller frames, 5 in one tools for cleaning rollers.
(I am, and will always be frugal, cleaning my tools after each job, and if there are gobs of paint left in a roller, I will squeeze it out for later)

I enjoy painting, one summer at the age of 16 I wanted to get a job but  I didn't drive yet so my dad felt it would just put one more thing on my mom's plate, driving me back in forth to some low paying job. So he said I could paint the house and he would pay me to do so. He set me up with all the tools and paint and said go for it. It took me the entire summer to get the job done, although he was the one who painted the gable ends since I was afraid to climb the ladder that far up in the air. But I was so proud of myself, it really came out well and I have loved painting ever since.
One time after my hubby had put an addition on our first home, I rolled out 35 gallons of base coat on the new sheet rock, what a job that was but once again , I enjoyed the process. As far as cleaning brushes, that was one of my pet peeves, those brushes had to be cleaned perfectly. Geez @jerrytsuseer you just jolted some good memories for me thanks.

It sounds like you got a good start, and with a good brain you can find what works best for you.
I USED to enjoy painting, and probably would still, but the way my back and neck are now, it would probably be painful before too long.
Still and all, I took pride in doing a good, if slower, job.
