# My Pride
I am about to tell you a little about my family reality on my mother's side, of which I am very proud since there are 6 generations with whom I have been able to share. The cover photo of this post is a visit we made this week to an aunt of my great grandmother, then there is an aunt sister of my grandmother, my mom and me, 4 generations, but counting my brother's children and the children of some cousins who already have children, there are 6 generations of family.
This is something that not everyone can tell, so it is a blessing for me, because my memories of life will not remain simply as a historical fact but as experiences that I still have the opportunity to share, and these are the things from which one learns the most since they are the ones that usually mark us more. I have a friend who jokingly tells us that we are the vampire family, hahaha, but there is nothing more valuable than having the opportunity to know and learn firsthand from the generations that came before us and contributed to our being here.
And if you thought that everything ended here, well you were wrong, because I also have to tell you that these generations are part of the maternal branch of my mother, if we go to the paternal branch something similar happens although I think I would have to talk about not 6 but 5 generations as far as I know. My great-grandmother is still alive, she is 101 years old and I have the joy that when we call her she still gives me her blessing, these are things that are part of what I was talking about, they mark us in a special way.

# Mi Orgullo
Me dispongo a comentarles un poco sobre mi realidad familiar por parte de la rama materna de la cual siento un gran orgullo, ya que son 6 generaciones con las que he podido compartir. La foto de portada de este post es un visita que le hicimos esta semana a una tía de mi bisabuela, luego está una tía hermana de mi abuela, mi mamá y yo, 4 generaciones, pero contando a los hijos de mi hermano y los hijos de unos primos que ya tienen hijos, son 6 generaciones familiares.
Esto es algo que no todo el mundo puede contar, por eso constituye una bendición para mí, pues en mis recuerdos de vida no quedarán simplemente como un dato histórico sino como experiencias que todavía tengo oportunidad de compartir, y éstas son las cosas de las cuales uno más aprende puesto que son las que normalmente nos marcan más. Tengo una amiga que nos dice en son de broma que somos la familia vampiro, jajaja, pero nada más valioso como tener la oportunidad de conocer y aprender en primera persona de las generaciones que nos antecedieron y contribuyeron a que estuviéramos aquí.
Y si creyeron que todo terminaba aquí, pues se equivocaron, ya que también tengo que contarles que estás generaciones son parte de la rama materna de mi mamá, si nos vamos a la paterna sucede algo parecido aunque creo tendría que hablar no de 6 sino de 5 generaciones hasta dónde tengo conocimientos. Todavía está con vida mi bisabuela, con 101 años de edad y tengo la dicha de que cuando la llamamos todavía me da la bendición, estas son cosas que forman parte de lo que comentaba nos marcan de manera especial.

# The tradition
One of the most beautiful things about having the joy of knowing and sharing with all this great family is that we can learn firsthand about our origins, how was the life of our ancestors, and their dreams, and projects. On the other hand, it is also important to know how to keep the best values that we find in this family tradition, because they are part of our essence. For example, I cherish many years of my childhood and adolescence when, on important dates of celebration (Mother's Day, Father's Day, New Year's Day, etc.), we would gather at my great-grandmother's house to share the joy of family unity.

# La tradición
Una de las cosas más bonitas de tener la dicha de conocer y compartir con toda esta gran familia es que podemos aprender de primera mano sobre nuestros orígenes, cómo era la vida de nuestros ancestros, sus sueños y proyectos. Por ejemplo, en el caso de mis bisabuelas, una de las cuáles ya partió de este mundo, ambas me hablaban sobre los esfuerzos que hicieron para sacar adelante a su familia, pues, a ambas les tocó ser madres y padres al mismo tiempo; también me hablaban con mucho orgullo de sus madres (Mis tatarabuelas), una era cantante, Petra, muy famosa en mi ciudad por aquellos tiempos.
Lo interesante de saber estas cosas es que uno aprende a valorar sus raíces, comprende que todo tiempo, momento y lugar tienen sus complicaciones, que la vida es así, no es una nota musical constante y monótona sino que tiene sus sostenidos y bemoles, pero es así que nacen y se forman las piezas musicales más hermosas y brillantes, pues con todas estas diversas notas se crea una mayor armonía.
Por otra parte, también es importante saber resguardar los mejores valores que encontremos en esta tradición familiar, pues conforman parte de nuestra esencia. Así por ejemplo, guardo con mucho agrado muchos años de mi infancia y adolescencia cuando en fechas de celebración importante (día de las madres, del padre, año nuevo, etc.) nos reuníamos en la casa de mi bisabuela para compartir la alegría de la unión familiar.

# Commitment

La mejor forma de darle vida al orgullo particular que siento por haber compartido con esta gran familia, que he podido conocer aún en su diferencia generacional, es a la par de resguardar esos buenos valores seguir esa cadena de transmisión a las generaciones contemporáneas y futuras. De hecho, a final del año pasado y comienzos de éste tuvimos la oportunidad de realizarlo, pues parte de la familia vino a pasar el fin de año en mi comunidad parroquial y a inicios del año fuimos a celebrar todos juntos en un club de la ciudad.
Es aquí donde se hace concreta y se experimenta la fuerza de la frase que dice que la familia es la célula fundamental de la sociedad, ya que efectivamente si aquí no se aprende a hacer el bien, a ser una buena persona, a cultivar buenas relaciones, a crecer en valores, se hace cuesta arriba poder formarse en ello.
Precisamente hoy está de cumpleaños mi sobrina, además de todo lo que pueda brindarle en su vida, sé que lo más valioso será lo que pueda aportar a su formación humana, ese es mayor regalo y al final lo más importante porque es lo que permanece en el tiempo, de generación en generación.
