Three weeks ago I was in Spain working and living very special moments, but there was one day in particular that I felt very happy, but not the kind of happiness that makes you cry... No, it was a feeling of peace and calm that I had not experienced for a long time. I don't know if it was the city, the weather or simply that it was Sunday, in fact it was the first day of Holy Week, but I just walked through the streets with a smile that never faded.

>Hace tres semanas me encontraba en España trabajando y viviendo momentos muy especiales, pero hubo un día en particular que me sentí muy feliz, pero no una felicidad de algarabía o de las que te hacen llorar... No, era una sensación de paz y calma que tenía tiempo sin experimentar. No sé si era la ciudad, el clima o simplemente que era Domingo, de hecho era el primer día de la Semana Santa, pero solo caminé por las calles con una sonrisa que jamás se borró.

This sublime place that you can see in the picture above that I captured from the window of my hotel room is called Santiago de Compostela, and it is located in northern Spain. At midday we were far away from the Venezuelan heat, but it was not as cold as what I met a few days later in other cities. The weather was perfect... I will never know if the peace I experienced in this city was because it was Palm Sunday, or if there will always be so much silence in its streets. The architecture is beautiful, the vegetation very varied and few people were walking on the sidewalks. I did not know the place, but I walked, walked and walked, taking pictures and with the awareness that I was not running any danger in the streets.

>Este sublime lugar que pueden apreciar en la fotografía de arriba que capturé desde la ventana de mi habitación de hotel se llama Santiago de Compostela, y queda al norte de España. A medio día estábamos muy lejos del calor venezolano, pero tampoco era tan frío como lo que conocí unos días después en otras ciudades. El clima era perfecto... Nunca sabré si la paz que experimenté en esta ciudad se debía por ser Domingo de Ramos, o si siempre habrá tanto silencio en sus calles. La arquitectura es hermosa, la vegetación muy variada y pocas personas transitaban por las aceras. Yo no conocía el lugar, pero caminé, caminé y caminé, tomando fotografías y con la consciencia de que no estaba corriendo ningún peligro en las calles.

My daily Hive post was already published and our next concert would be at 8 pm. My mom and brother were at church in Venezuela, my dad was with God in heaven and Jhoxiris was accompanying me on this walk. How could I not feel absolute peace. There was no traffic noise or danger of crime walking near me. I was on the street, but it was even much cooler than being inside the hotel. I feel that this place is blessed because without knowing the wonders I would know I felt sublime emotions since I got off the plane a few hours before.

>Mi post diario de Hive ya estaba publicado y nuestro próximo concierto sería a las 8 de la noche. Mi mamá y mi hermano estaban en la iglesia en Venezuela, mi papá junto a Dios en el cielo y Jhoxiris me acompañaba en este paseo. ¿Cómo no sentir una paz absoluta?. No existía la bulla del tráfico o el peligro de la delincuencia caminando cerca de mí. Estaba en la calle, pero incluso era mucho más fresco que estar dentro del hotel. Yo siento que este lugar está bendito porque sin saber las maravillas que conocería sentí emociones sublimes desde que me bajé del avión unas horas antes.

It was nice to meet my co-workers in the street, it seems that we were the only ones in the city, but I could feel that they were also at peace. In fact I think that most of the group agrees that our best concert was the one in the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela; and I emphasize this because it is a reality that when we are in complete peace, everything goes better, because although I am sure that all our concerts were excellent, the group perception makes us feel that here was the best. Our job is to sing, many think it is easy compared to other professions, but no, in fact I think we are more dependent on the sentimental. There is nothing worse than singing with a broken heart, with hunger or with penniless pockets, everything affects our sound, especially when the feeling is collective.

>Era grato conseguirme a mis compañeros de trabajo en la calle, parece que éramos los únicos que transitaban la ciudad, pero podía sentir que también se encontraban en paz. De hecho creo que la mayoría de la agrupación coincide en que nuestro mejor concierto fue el de la Catedral de Santiago de Compostela; y hago énfasis en esto porque es una realidad de cuando estamos en completa paz, todo sale mejor, porque aunque estoy seguro de que todos nuestros conciertos fueron excelentes, la percepción grupal nos hace sentir que aquí fue el mejor. Nuestro trabajo es cantar, muchos piensan que es fácil en comparación a otros oficios, pero no, de hecho creo que somos más dependientes de lo sentimental. No hay nada peor que cantar con el corazón roto, con hambre o con los bolsillos sin un centavo, todo afecta nuestro sonido, sobre todo cuando el sentimiento es colectivo.

Beyond what we felt in the streets, that day in the beautiful Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela we were told that the remains of the apostle St. James rested here and of all the moments of the tour was the only time where the group participated in the celebration of the mass, which we requested to be in thanksgiving to Maestro Abreu, although not all members of the choir are Catholics like me. That is another great detail of the peace that reigned that day, prayer and meditation before a concert are vital. We connected with the spiritual and only sacred music was made, music for God in one of the most beautiful temples that man has created in his name. 

>Más allá de lo que sentimos en las calles, ese día en la hermosa Catedral de Santiago de Compostela nos dijeron que los restos del apóstol Santiago reposaban aquí y de todos los momentos de la gira fue la única vez donde la agrupación participó en la celebración de la misa, la cual solicitamos que sea en acción de gracias al Maestro Abreu, aunque no todos los integrantes de la coral sean católicos como yo. Ese es otro gran detalle de la paz que reinó ese día, la oración y la meditación antes de un concierto son vital. Conectamos con lo espiritual y solo se hizo música sacra, música para Dios en uno de los templos más hermosos que el hombre ha creado en su nombre.

I am not going to complain about my country, because I love it and it has places and cities as wonderful as those in Spain, although with more heat hehe, but one of the things I asked God that day is that Venezuelans can experience in their own country the peace that I felt just walking through the streets; that my people feel safe, that the consciousness of keeping our cities clean is collective and that everyone can enjoy an economy that makes them feel stable. I don't like to talk about those topics in Hive, but that's all I wanted at that moment.

>No voy a quejarme de mi país, porque lo amo y posee lugares y ciudades tan maravillosas como las que hay en España, aunque con más calorcito hehe, pero una de las cosas que pedía a Dios ese día es que los venezolanos puedan experimentar en su propio país la paz que yo sentí con el simple hecho de caminar por las calles; que mi gente se sienta segura, que la consciencia de mantener limpia nuestras ciudades sea colectiva y que todos puedan gozar de una economía que los haga sentirse estables. No me gusta hablar esos temas en Hive, pero es lo único que deseaba en ese momento.

That Sunday I also experienced something very simple, but very special for me. It was the first time in my life that I saw real tulips. They were simply on the street and all very well cared for. I'm not going to deny it, it brought tears to my eyes, because I never thought I would see this flower. It is my favorite and they don't grow in my country and I honestly didn't think I would find them in Spain, but after this I even saw them in Madrid. My level of serenity was so high that dressed in my tails I sat down for about 5 minutes just to admire them, and well, of course there have been many pictures of them 😅

>Ese Domingo también viví algo muy simple, pero muy especial para mí. Era la primera vez en mi vida que veía tulipanes reales. Simplemente estaban en la calle y todos muy bien cuidados. No se los voy a negar, se me salieron las lágrimas, porque nunca pensé ver esta flor. Es mi favorita y no se dan en mi país y sinceramente no pensé encontrarla en España, pero luego de esto las vi incluso en Madrid. Mi nivel de serenidad era tan elevado que vestido con mi frac me senté como 5 minutos simplemente a admirarlas, y bueno, claro que han quedado muchas fotografías junto a ellas 😅

Many will think that because I'm a musician I drink a lot, but that's not the case. Unlike my fellow tenors I am always sober 🤣 but this day I remember that we needed a drink, because of the cold outside and because we still had an hour left for our concert. Maybe these glasses of wine helped to tune better, I don't know hehe, but I do remember that I toasted from the most sublime feeling of my soul for peace, for happiness and for moments like that to be repeated for all of us. I cried with happiness while toasting, because believe me, I felt at the top of happiness. That day all the negative feelings that held me prisoner disappeared, and although there is a reality that always accompanies us, I think I brought part of the feeling of Santiago de Compostela to this new stage of my life... So cheers to that!

>Muchos pensarán que por ser músico bebo mucho, pero no es así. A diferencia de mis compañeros tenores siempre estoy sobrio 🤣 pero este día recuerdo que necesitábamos un trago, por el frío que había afuera y porque aún nos quedaba una hora para nuestro concierto. Quizás estas copas de vino ayudaron a entonar mejor, no lo sé hehe, pero sí recuerdo que brindé desde el sentimiento más sublime de mi alma por la paz, por la felicidad y por que se repitieran momentos así para todos nosotros. Lloré de felicidad mientras brindaba, porque créanme, me sentía en el tope de la felicidad. Ese día desaparecieron todos los sentimientos negativos que me tenían preso, y aunque hay una realidad que siempre nos acompaña, creo que me traje parte del sentimiento de Santiago de Compostela a esta nueva etapa de mi vida... ¡Así que salud por eso!.
