# <center> Cien años de lectura </center>

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Empujado por una fiebre lectora que me ha tenido releyendo buenas obras, anoche inicié mi tercera lectura de *Cien años de Soledad*. La segunda vez que la leí no tuve la holgura de disfrutarla plenamente porque fueron lecturas interrumpidas debido a que me encontraba de viaje por Suramérica y solo le dedicaba algunas noches en que no quería dormirme temprano y hacía una especie de carpa con mi sabana, encendía mi móvil y mientras los demás sosegaban el cansancio con el sueño, yo entraba en el mundo narrativo de García Márquez y me imaginaba atravesando el mismo camino que hizo José Arcadio Buendía, Úrsula y el resto de los hombre que fundaron a *Macondo*.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;En aquella oportunidad descubrí que no recordaba prácticamente nada de la novela y fue porque la primera vez que la leí lo hice con la fiebre juvenil que a los dieciocho años se apoderó de mí por leer cuanto cayera en mis manos; recuerdo que me gasté tres días en terminarla porque el afán era más que el deseo del disfrute, por eso, cuando intentaba recordar algo concreto de la trama, acudía a trabajos de otros, investigativos o ensayos y sentía que tenía una deuda conmigo mismo y no es sino hasta ahora que estoy saldando cuentas.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Anoche asistí nuevamente a la fundación de *Macondo* y esta mañana ya estaba detrás de las pistas de los alquimistas, del interés de José Arcadio Buendía por el imán, por el hielo y por la lupa; de los amores entre José Arcadio (hijo) y Pilar Ternera; de la desaparición de Úrsula; porque es que son tantas cosas en apenas dos capítulos que con razón es uno de los libros más degustados por los lectores. 

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;La cantidad de recursos expresivos, la secuencia ininterrumpida de acciones y la calidad del discurso le dan un ritmo a esta obra que desde el primer momento te atrapa; no hay momentos para aburrirse, se va entrando y saliendo en una sucesión de eventos, con imágenes bien logradas que despiertan tu apetito lector, tu interés, porque sabes que lo viene en la siguiente página también es placentero. Una obra así, sin desperdicios es lo que todos queremos y si somos aprendices de escritores, pues, mucho más, porque ahí si hay tela para cortar. 

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Lo otro que hay que destacar es el realismo mágico de la obra; niños que nacen con cola de cerdo, muertos que limpian sus heridas frente a los vivos y una cantidad de supersticiones que le dan a la historia una riqueza lingüística y cultural muy propia de lo que pudiéramos llamar lo latinoamericano; supersticiones muy particulares de los pueblos de América. 

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Los invito a que se acerquen a *Cien años de Soledad*; una obra que vale por cien años de  lectura.

# <center> One Hundred Years of Reading </center>

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Pushed by a reading fever that has had me rereading good works, last night I started my third reading of *One Hundred Years of Solitude*. The second time I read it I didn't have the slack to fully enjoy it because I was on a trip through South America and I only spent a few nights when I didn't want to go to sleep early and I made a kind of tent with my bed sheet, turned on my cell phone and while the others were soothing their tiredness with sleep, I entered the narrative world of García Márquez and imagined myself going through the same path that José Arcadio Buendía, Úrsula and the rest of the men who founded *Macondo* did.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;On that occasion I discovered that I remembered practically nothing of the novel and it was because the first time I read it I did it with the youthful fever that at the age of eighteen took hold of me to read whatever fell into my hands; I remember that I spent three days to finish it because the desire was more than the desire of enjoyment, so when I tried to remember something concrete of the plot, I went to other people's works, research or essays and I felt I had a debt with myself and it is not until now that I am settling accounts.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Last night I attended again the founding of *Macondo* and this morning I was already after the clues of the alchemists, José Arcadio Buendía's interest in the magnet, the ice and the magnifying glass; the love between José Arcadio (son) and Pilar Ternera; the disappearance of Úrsula; because there are so many things in just two chapters that it is rightly one of the books most enjoyed by readers.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;The amount of expressive resources, the uninterrupted sequence of actions and the quality of the discourse give this work a rhythm that grabs you from the first moment; there are no moments to get bored, you go in and out in a succession of events, with well achieved images that awaken your reading appetite, your interest, because you know that what comes on the next page is also pleasurable. A work like this, without waste is what we all want and if we are apprentice writers, well, much more, because there is plenty of material to cut.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;The other thing to highlight is the magical realism of the work; children who are born with pig tails, dead people who clean their wounds in front of the living and a number of superstitions that give the story a linguistic and cultural richness very typical of what we could call the Latin American; superstitions very particular to the peoples of America.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;I invite you to approach *One hundred years of Solitude*; a work that is worth a hundred years of reading.
