&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;En ese instante una zorra iba atravesando la vaquera y los niños la llamaron para preguntarle si había perdido alguna pluma; cuando se la mostraron, la zorra dijo que en efecto le pertenecía, y que a eso había salido de su cueva, a buscar esa y todas las plumas que una mala gallina le había robado mientras ella dormía a sus cachorros. 

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Los niños prometieron ayudar a la zorra a encontrar la gallina y como no sabían cómo, la zorra les dijo que mientras ellos entretenían al perro, ella entraría al gallinero para identificar a la mala que la había robado. 

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Eso hicieron, y ese primer día la zorra se llevó una gallina, pero regresó a decirle a los niños, que siempre jugaban en la vaquera, que se había llevado a la gallina equivocada y que necesitaba que volvieran a entretener al perro.

Cuando los niños regresaron a la vaquera vieron a la vaca en medio de una reguera de plumas y fueron corriendo a decirle al papá que ellos no estaban mintiendo, que había una vaca que largaba plumas, entonces el papá pensó que la vaca era la responsable de la pérdida de las gallinas y fue por la escopeta para ajustar cuentas. 

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;La detonación que se escuchó después fue certera; la vaca no podía creer que el hombre le hubiera hecho aquel acto de tal magnitud, pero entendió que era la manera de agradecerle por alertar al perro, de que había sido la zorra quien había engañado a los niños; y esa tarde, cuando la astuta volvió a pedirles ayuda, ellos entretuvieron al perro mientras ella entraba al gallinero; de donde no volvió a salir.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;At that moment a fox was crossing the cowshed and the children called her to ask her if she had lost a feather; when they showed it to her, the fox said that indeed it belonged to her, and that was why she had left her cave, to look for that and all the feathers that a bad hen had stolen while she was sleeping with her cubs.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;The children promised to help the fox find the hen and since they didn't know how, the fox told them that while they entertained the dog, she would go into the hen house to identify the bad one that had stolen it.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;So they did, and that first day the fox took a hen, but returned to tell the children, who always played in the cowshed, that she had taken the wrong hen and that she needed them to go back to entertain the dog.

When the children returned to the barn they saw the cow in the middle of a trail of feathers and went running to tell the father that they were not lying, that there was a cow that was releasing feathers, then the father thought that the cow was responsible for the loss of the chickens and went for the shotgun to settle the score.
