Splinterlands is a pretty complicated game and there are some interesting battles with all the options available. This is a part of the [weekly social media challenge](https://peakd.com/hive-13323/@splinterlands/splinterlands-social-media-challenge-skqc1b) for [Splinterlands](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/what-is-splinterlands). This week is about a great fight where I won due to the strategy to make the most of quantity over quality in low mana matches.

## Rule set, Battle and Plan

The ruleset this time is [Silenced Summoner](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-silenced-summoners-ruleset) and [Going the Distance](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-going-the-distance-ruleset). This means summoners don't give any benefits and only ranged monsters can be used in this fight. There are 14 mana available and I am left with the choice of life, death, or dragon [splinter](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-splinter).

My summoner is Quix the Devious because it's a dragon summoner and it has a decent level. The summoner benefits don't matter so I am using it more for its level. I have Naga Assassin up front as my tank because it has decent speed and the [backfire](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-backfire-ability) ability. It has a decent chance of dodging attacks and dealing some counter damage. After that is Venari Marksrat with [martyr](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-martyr-ability) incase my opponent has some strong [snipe](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-snipe-ability) monsters so it can buff my other monsters. Then I have one monster with [shatter](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-shatter-ability) and my last monster is just an extra damage dealer. 

### Round 1

At first glance, I think I have the advantage because of my monsters. My opponent only has one attacker and once I kill that first monster, the damage will be limited.

### Round 2

I was able to kill off the first monster. At this point, the match is a battle of endurance. The backfire won't matter but my opponent can only deal 1 damage per turn. So unless I miss most of my attacks, there is no chance for me to lose this match at all. That ranged debuff only delays the match for me, but it isn't an issue at all.

I ended up winning the match a few rounds later. I did lose one monster but it wasn't an issue as I didn't miss any attacks. 

## Conclusion

The battle this time around went exactly like I expected. My idea to focus on making the most of my mana using low mana cards to increase my damage worked out well. This allowed me to deal more damage than my opponent and the ranged damage debuff didn't hurt me as much as I was already focusing on quantity over quality. One thing that stands out to me is that I think my opponent would have done a better job with the ranged monster in the 2nd spot rather than the first spot. I think it would have added up to more damage over time, but the biggest issue my opponent had was that he chose a card that cost too much mana.
