I and one of my friends tried to obtain a response from Verisign on this regard. Today, I got the response from Verisign and a link to their blog saying they have updated their application and is continuing in their efforts to get the extension secured in China.

 Verisign’s statement reads: _We submitted our updated applications in July 2017. We expect to begin to engage in discussions with the Chinese government about our final evaluation and ultimately obtain licenses for .cc, .tv and our IDNs._
