I've just spent a few minutes checking out the new posts feed, and as has been the case for the past few months since Steemit started to become more popular, it was full of guides on what Steemit is / how it works, posts on how high the Bitcoin price is going to go, posts on vaccines, people cheering themselves for having 500 followers etc etc. People are writing things that they think will generate upvotes rather than writing things that they feel passionate / care about and I can understand this but it really is pointless. There is no rhyme nor reason as to why articles you spend time and effort writing will get zero upvotes but that funny gif of a cat high fiving a dog that took you five seconds to copy from a website will earn you $10 or even $100. I'm as guilty as the next person when it comes to refreshing my blog feed to see if anyone has read or upvoted my posts but starting today I am going to try to stop it and start using Steemit as a diary or journal of sorts. Somewhere where I can write about the things that mean something to me or about what I did on the weekend or to link to a particularly interesting news story. I sort of do this already to be honest but I am too worried about the number of views and upvotes and it sort of ruins the experience for me. I might even make a point of only visiting my wallet page and claiming my curation/author rewards every 7 days rather than claiming miniscule amounts of SP/SBD every day (all those 0.001 SP awards add up you know !!!!) I realise that this is something that lots of Steemians have come to realise and that by posting this, I myself am in a way contributing to the issue I have rasied but at least I wrote this myself and didn't just copy and paste from Quora (I just left a comment on a post of someone who did this). Have fun. Steem on.

I will probably join you in a blog style approach (but when my life gets a little better). I think it is something that SteemIt sorely needs. Ok, so we already have blogs from people who go on adventures, but I think that what would be really interesting is people's lives in general. If people did this, it would give them 'real' things to discuss and this could set it apart from Facebook because SteemIt would have a more serious side. In fact, I can see SteemIt filling a space like Readers Digest was (I don't know much about it now) - articles, jokes, memes, LIFE, etc. Personal, everyday, blogs would complete this, I think. Another plus is that it's much more difficult to successfully spam a blog post.
