Social media used to be just a place to have fun, chill, and hang out with your friends. That was then, this is now. While billions of people continue to share their news and stories with friend online, there’s no denying that social media marketing is big business, and in local SEO, it’s absolutely vital. 

In fact, consumers expect you to be on social media. If you aren’t, then they are going to ask why not – and that can damage your business. If you don’t enjoy social media, or simply don’t have time, then I strongly recommend hiring someone to do this task for you. It’s on the cusp of becoming non-negotiable!

One thing that you will want to look out for is the rules of compliance on each of the social media channels you are active on. While they are broadly the same, it’s worth remembering that violations – even small, one-time accidental violations – can get you booted.

You’ll also want to carefully consider that no social media platform is truly the same as another, and many serve differing demographics. If your primary market is women, then Pinterest is a great choice. LinkedIn is a top choice for B2B, and Facebook offers gigantic reach especially to the middle aged. Young people can be found on Snapchat, 
Instagram, and Twitter. This is just a broad overview and subject to change, so do your research before launching!

Finally, keep it up! This can be a tiresome chore, but it’s also a necessary one if you want your business to succeed. As I noted at the beginning of the article, there is help out there if you need it.
