**Hello to all dear #Hive friends**!... This is a new edition of my series of black and white photographs **"Stolen Stories"** and as always, it is full of portraits, streets, details, anecdotes and memories... All this and more, is depicted in front of me as I wander through the streets of my village... This post is also my entry to today's #monomad challenge and I hope you enjoy these images and these lines.  

>**¡Hola a todos queridos amigos de #Hive!**... Esta es una nueva edición de mi serie de fotografía en blanco y negreo **"Historias Robadas"** y como siempre, está repleta de retratos, de calles, de detalles, anécdotas y memorias... Todo esto y más, es lo que se dibuja ante mí mientras voy por las calle de mi pueblo deambulando... Esta publicación es también mi entrada al reto #monomad de hoy y espero que disfruten estas imágenes y estás lineas.

**Juan (better known as " The fluff")** is my distant relative, if I remember correctly, his late father and my grandmother were first cousins, so Juan is something like my "cousin in third degree"... He has had his nickname "Fluff" since he was a child and this is due to his extremely thin constitution... I remember playing with Juan and other friends in the streets of the village and seeing him running freely and without getting tired all the time. For me it was a reason to envy him, because during a stage of my childhood I suffered of obesity and sometimes it was difficult for me to keep up with many of my playmates... However, "Fluff" could run practically all day long without stopping... In fact, for much of his life he was a cyclist and won several regional and national awards. He even continues to cycle regularly today. 


>**Juan (mejor conocido como "El pelusa")** es mi pariente lejano, si mal no recuerdo, su fallecido padre y mi abuela eran primos hermanos, entonces Juan viene siendo algo así como mi "primo en tercer grado"... Su sobrenombre "Pelusa" lo tiene desde niño y esto es debido a su contextura extremadamente delgada... Recuerdo jugar con Juan y otros amigos en las calles del pueblo y verlo correr con libertad y sin cansarse todo el tiempo. Para mi era un motivo de envidia, pues durante una etapa de mi niñez sufrí de obesidad y a veces me costaba seguir el ritmo de muchos de mis compañeros de juego... Sin embargo "Pelusa" podía correr prácticamente todo el día sin detenerse... De hecho, durante buena parte de su vida fue ciclista y ganó varios premios regionales y nacionales. Inclusive hoy en día sigue practicando ciclismo con regularidad.

**My neighbour "Alecia"** has always lived in the house diagonal to mine.... Her husband Mr. Oscar died a little more than a decade ago, since then she and one of her sons live alone in that house. Until recently Alecia looked quite well, she was very active and friendly and was always ready to help the other neighbours in any need. But recently Alecia has seen her health deteriorate abruptly. Her vision has deteriorated to the point where she can only recognise people by voice, and she uses a cane to walk short distances around her house. However, Alecia's kindness and friendliness is still there, as it is every morning when I leave my house, when she answers the greeting and asks about the health of everyone in our house. 


>**Mi vecina "Alecia"** ha vivido desde siempre en la casa diagonal a la mía... Su esposo el Sr. Oscar murió hace algo más de una década, desde entonces ella y uno de sus hijos viven solos en esa casa. Hasta hace poco tiempo Alecia lucía bastante bien, era muy activa y amable y siempre estaba presta a apoyar en cualquier necesidad a los otros vecinos. Pero desde hace poco tiempo Alecia ha visto su salud desmejorada de forma abrupta. Su visión se degradó hasta el punto en el que solo reconoce a las personas por la voz, además suele usar un bastón para poder caminar cortos tramos alrededor de su casa. Sin embargo, la amabilidad y la simpatía de Alecia siguen estando allí, como cada mañana al salir de mi casa, cuando ella contesta el saludo y pregunta por la salud de todos en nuestra casa.

**"Carlos"** is another one of those people I have known since we were kids, but it was during the final years of high school when we became more frequent friends. However, one day, without any explanation, Carlos began to exhibit erratic behaviour and often his conversations revolved around completely imaginary events... So it was that Carlos ended up being diagnosed with some form of mild schizophrenia. However, the vast majority of the time Carlos displays a normal and friendly demeanour. It is even frequent that when I meet him, we talk about our high school days and about other friends we have in common... The day I took this portrait, Carlos was walking down the street looking a bit less friendly than usual, but he still agreed to let me take this picture, even though he had a different expression than his usual smile... I actually identify a lot with Carlos, as I myself have had some episodes of bipolar disorder and depression for quite some time now, so I can empathise with him without too much effort. 


>**"Carlos"** es otra de esas personas las cuales conozco desde que eramos niños, pero fue durante los años finales de la secundaria cuando nos hicimos amigos más frecuentes. Sin embargo, un día, sin explicación alguna, Carlos comenzó a presentar conductas erráticas y muchas veces sus conversaciones giraban en torno a hechos totalmente imaginarios... Así fue como Carlos terminó siendo diagnosticado con algún tipo de leve de esquizofrenia. Sin embargo, la gran mayoría del tiempo Carlos muestra un comportamiento normal y amable. Incluso, es frecuente que al encontrarme con él, hablemos sobre nuestros tiempos de secundaria y sobre otros amigos que tenemos en común... El día que hice este retrato, Carlos estaba caminando por la calle con cara de pocos amigo, pero de igual manera accedió a que le hiciese esta foto, aún teniendo una expresión distinta a su habitual sonrisa... En realidad me identifico mucho con Carlos, pues yo mismo he tenido ciertos episodios de bipolaridad y depresión desde hace ya bastante tiempo, así que puedo empatizar son demasiado esfuerzo con él.

**"Mr. Santos"** usually appears daily along the street where he is seen in this photo. This street ascends towards the village from a riverbed on the outskirts of the village. However, Santos does not come carrying water from the river, on the contrary, he "goes to the village in search of drinking water". The river is dry most of the year and when it does have water it is usually contaminated with waste which some people throw into the water illegally and without the slightest sense of civility or respect for nature and other people. You have probably already seen Mr. Santos in other of my publications, but this photo in particular, seems to me to reflect much of the drama that is in his life on a daily basis.

>**"El Sr. Santos"** suele aparecer diariamente por esa calle en donde se ve en esta foto. Esa calle asciende hacia el pueblo desde el cauce de un río en las afueras del pueblo. Sin embargo, Santos no viene cargado de agua desde el río, por el contrario, él "va hacia el pueblo en busca de agua potable". Pues el río está seco buena parte del año y cuando tiene agua esta suele estar contaminada con desechos los cuales algunas personas lanzan a las aguas ilegalmente y sin el más mínimo sentido del civismo o el respeto hacia la naturaleza y a las otras personas. A el Sr. Santos seguramente ya lo habían visto en otras de mis publicaciones, pero esta foto en especial, me parece que refleja mucho del drama que hay en la vida de él a diario.

**"Nina"** is a cute little furry dog, whose main hobby is to "guard baby kittens ".... Her owner says that Nina usually spends the day accompanying the kittens wherever they go, even if the little kittens go out the door to the street as in the case of this photograph that I was able to capture. In fact, her young owner says that Nina goes so far as to "watch" these little cats when they are being fed by their mother.... Now that's being a good nanny!  

>**"Nina"** es una simpática perrita peluda, cuya principal afición es "cuidar gatitos bebé"... Su dueña dice que Nina suele pasar el día acompañando a los gatitos a donde quiera que ellos van, inclusive si los pequeños gatitos salen a la puerta que da hacia la calle como en el caso de esta fotografía que yo pude capturar. De hecho, su joven dueña dice que Nina llega al extremo de "vigilar" a esos pequeños gatos cuando ellos están siendo alimentados por su madre... ¡Eso sí que es ser una buena nana!

**Emilio and Julio** take advantage of their free time to sit and talk in the entrance of Nicodemo's tailor's shop... The curious thing is that almost nobody takes their garments to the tailor's shop to be repaired and there are very few orders for new pieces, so Nicodemo is almost never in his tailor's shop as he goes out into the streets in search of an alternative for his livelihood, but in spite of this, the tailor's shop is open almost every day! and any of the neighbours who come there to chat (there is always at least one, I am sure of that) serve as assistants and "write down" the few jobs that arrive to be done in the tailor's shop... As Julio says: These things only happen in this town! :) 

>**Emilio y Julio** aprovechan los ratos de descanso que tienen para sentarse a conversar en la entrada de la sastrería de Nicodemo... Lo curios del caso es que ya casi nadie lleva sus prendas a reparar en la sastrería y hay muy pocos encargos para confección de piezas nuevas, así que Nicodemo casi nunca está en su sastrería pues sale a las calles en busca de alguna alternativa para su sustento, pero a pesar de esto ¡la sastrería esta abierta casi a diario! y cualquiera de los vecinos que llega allí a platicar (siempre hay cuando menos uno, de eso estoy seguro) sirven como asistentes y "anotan" los pocos trabajos que llegan para hacer en la sastrería... Tal como dice Julio: ¡Estas cosas solo suceden en este pueblo! :)

**Ricaurte Avenue** is what I used to call "the street behind my house"... This is the street where I spent most of my childhood afternoons. I remember riding my bicycle on it, flying kites or simply interrupting the peace of the neighbourhood while I was beating the crap out of my friends in solemn street brawls that always ended with the eloquent shout of a neighbour threatening to give us a thrashing if we didn't stop our fights... Now, forty years after those days, this street has changed little and still inspires me with a lot of memories. That's why I take a photo almost every day in it, because I like to get to my office and look at those images of Ricaurte Avenue while I mentally go through some memories of when I was a naughty boy in its corners. 

>**La Avenida Ricaurte** es lo que yo suelo llamar "la calle detrás de mi casa"... En esta calle transcurrió gran parte de mis tardes de niñez. Me recuerdo en ella andando en bicicleta, volando cometas o simplemente interrumpiendo la paz del vecindario mientras me daba de porrazos con mis amigos en solemnes trifulcas callejeras que siempre terminaban con el grito elocuente de algún vecino amenazando con darnos una tunda si no deteníamos nuestras peleas... Ahora, cuarenta años después de aquellos días, esta calle ha cambiado poco y me sigue inspirando un montón de recuerdos. Por eso suelo disparar una foto casi a diario en ella, pues me gusta llegar a mi oficina y mirar esas imágenes de la Avenida Ricaurte mientra recorro mentalmente algunos recuerdos de cuando fui un chico travieso en sus rincones.
