Another Step Toward Completion— operation Duck Enclosure
###
Put in a few more hours in on the Duck enclosure Monday after work. With the help of my kids, we made some good progress on It.

First, I got the kids lined out on Zip-tying the chicken wire to the hog fencing.
![3A77CBFD-6404-4E10-B66A-F01A30F69BCB.jpeg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmWkznqCxvDuhfH9kcV6EQJveGj9gXKLQehWJaw6kHA8ZC/3A77CBFD-6404-4E10-B66A-F01A30F69BCB.jpeg)
I would think it would be easier for their little hands to wrap these zip-ties but according to them it isn’t.
😂😂
![51C9A21E-1CFD-4897-9257-90506DB21E1E.jpeg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmXRqJXjJvCmaVtYeRjsSdBnTXK7JbDMUv4N7nuKe9cZh9/51C9A21E-1CFD-4897-9257-90506DB21E1E.jpeg)
After a minor complaining spell and a little help and encouragement, they were cruising right along.
![B3391407-B530-4DCD-922C-949DD8EF0BA4.jpeg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmNbdkR8FWiTZpbVncfvF4CZfQq4iZpdueVy5W34r8vtkd/B3391407-B530-4DCD-922C-949DD8EF0BA4.jpeg)
That there is a fine install of a Zip-tie.
After I got the kids goin on that, I took on the task of driving in the T-posts behind the shed.
After a couple hits of the sledge hammer, I found the rocks. I just kept bangin away and eventually got the t-post to the depth I was wanting.

As the t-post is being driven through the rocks, it’s hard to keep the straight vertically and from twisting. I just straightened them up the best I could and started attaching the first arched panel to the t-posts with bailing wire.
![14136D6B-B4C0-4D81-A9A7-CC6349D655E8.jpeg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmahxPD2s44Y7bDwHVPFGrNomxoMRC1enpenWVQVJBvKKb/14136D6B-B4C0-4D81-A9A7-CC6349D655E8.jpeg)
A little tip when you purchase a roll on this:
Wrap it in tape and leave one end open. Then you just pull the inner tail of the wire out of the hole. Avoiding a big tangled up mess of wire.
![9F7498E8-8AF0-4D32-BBD9-7AFFD8CBAD0B.jpeg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmXukML2fLH3hyqqiiduvwAFhR8bpRZdt62d9HN9JbDF4b/9F7498E8-8AF0-4D32-BBD9-7AFFD8CBAD0B.jpeg)
Anchoring the arched panels to the T-posts sure took the wobble out of them.

These T-posts were a real a$$ kicker!! The combination of rocks and not having a post driver made this take a lot longer that I was hoping.
Sweating like crazy I just kept hammering away and got them all driven in.

After securing the first arched panel to the first set of t-posts, I wrestled the next 2 sections into place.
I had about a 2 foot over lap of chicken wire from the first panel that will tie into the next panel.
It seemed to catch on everything, making it a little pain in the butt to get into position.
With a little persuasion and sore fingers I pulled the chicken wire into place.
![42470CF3-C125-4CC6-8D3B-D628DED3CF2C.jpeg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmQ7HUuR1Hmt3g4W4U6JKrFzekoWC9YZPQccLoMSJrFQRX/42470CF3-C125-4CC6-8D3B-D628DED3CF2C.jpeg)
Was it worth the fight??
Heck yes it was!!
I ended up with a 1 foot long piece of chicken wire once the kids finished the panel they were working on.
Perfect, very little waste.

Using little bigger zip-ties I connected the 2 sections together at the t-post. Then attached them to the t-post with more bailing wire.
![AAA27292-4FB3-4703-81DA-BB3A9D1CB81E.jpeg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmPngmgye4a6iUAKQVQgtJV5m7uUv4Sjc9eDmesotrFE9A/AAA27292-4FB3-4703-81DA-BB3A9D1CB81E.jpeg)
At this point it was started to get late and my stomach was growling!!
I’ve got a lot of zip-tying and bailing wire to install. Hopefully I can hit it a couple more times this week for a bit and get it done.
2 t-posts and one more panel
It’s getting closer!!
![1EF82BBF-7EB9-47B4-B9A9-1BEA076D37A4.jpeg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmQRGf4uSemhGSTiyWCtQSjZXua4hYv1R1LSBMzn4UDZky/1EF82BBF-7EB9-47B4-B9A9-1BEA076D37A4.jpeg)

![1A01F1F5-6542-4162-A0FE-ABE1CE302325.jpeg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmXrXzbKE4M1hsW5yhNfXjJxJwez5JdpfxfBC6KBx2MKeX/1A01F1F5-6542-4162-A0FE-ABE1CE302325.jpeg)
It’s starting to really take shape and turning out really nice.

After this arched enclosure is done I need to figure out how to make a door way for us to get in and out. Also how to tie the chicken wire in their house to complete the enclosure.

Until next time

Keep hammering away at it
Completion is just a couple hits away

Great to see your progress! I like the arch design too. I'm gonna throw in a "Why didn't I think of that!" here.

We _had_ chickens last year. Emphasis on the had! I spent a couple of days building a better coop than the one that came with them. To keep costs down, I took apart and repurposed some old pallets...

The paler box on the side is the old coop, now used as a lay box.

What I didn't consider was a top on the run. We did enjoy a couple of eggs most days for about three months. Until that is the local Fox enjoyed our chickens. Greedy f*%#er.

Dang, that sucks!! We have a lot of hawks around, and we live right on the edge of town. We hear coyotes every night and a lot of them.
This arch has been a bit of work with all the zip-tying but already having the hog fence is what pushed this design.

Damn right it sucks! I was gonna eat them myself eventally... Now I'll have to catch the fox for dinner instead. Lol

See, now if Foxes were as noisy as coyotes, it might of crossed my mind to put a lid on the run. Pesky things rarely make a sound though :(

Their like 'ninja coyotes' or somthing. Lol
