I am becoming more and more comfortable with my new camera. I have discovered through watching a couple of videos on Youtube some of the common features that everyone should know. For example, one of my challenges is ease of use and sharing photos. I didn't know how I was going to go from using my IPhone where everything is at my fingertips while I am on the go, to carrying around a much larger camera with a memory card. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zAFigFMdi58&t=1584s This particular video was very helpful and fast paced enough to hold my attention. I also learned that Canon has a free app named Camera Connect that allows me to connect my smartphone to my camera through a WIFI or blue tooth connection. Once inside the app, I can view and/or save my images as well as use my telephone for remote live shooting. I also learned that I can connect to my laptop via the USB cable directly into the free software that Canon provides. Canon also provides free editing software too. I haven't delved into that software yet. I really just wanted to start taking pictures and looking at them.  My original photo of different "stuff" taken with my Canon EOS 80D. I tried using the video component of the camera without really preparing when I went to the dance contest the other night. I quickly determined that I was not ready. I had to switch to my smartphone. My video on the camera provided an image that was too close to me and I didn't know how to manually adjust the camera to the right distance. I will also have to practice that feature as well. For now though, I am going to practice taking pictures, transferring them to my laptop or smartphone, and then using those pictures in a blog post. The guy in the video has a book out that he was pushing (How to create Stunning Digital photography by Tony Northrup) which is actually rated at 5 stars from over 2300 reviewers. It only costs $9.98 for the Kindle version which includes video links. I want to utilize free resources first, but I know that I will eventually buy his book. I have enough to read so far with all of the instruction manuals for my hardware and software. Progress is slow but I am making progress. I also plan to take a free photography class that is being offered at the senior center in January. While I'm at it, I will also be looking out for a knitting class. I learned to crochet from an instructor, but I taught myself how to knit and I am not satisfied with my skill level. Stay tuned to my educational journey in photography.
