" The more often we see the things around us - even the beautiful and wonderful things - the more they become invisible to us. That is why we often take for granted the beauty of this world: the flowers, the trees, the birds, the clouds - even those we love. Because we see things so often, we see them less and less."

- Joseph B. Wirthlin

I took this photograph in my hometown.

I have a particular affection for this photo because I have driven by this little historical site dozens of times. This is the whistle from the old mill, Eatonville used to be a logging town and there are remnants of the past industry all around. Having driven by this place so many times I ceased to see it.

One day when I was much younger I was assigned a project.

I had to go through town and create a photograph story. Well I wandered to the park where this wagon and whistle rest. For the first time again I saw them! It was beautiful, subtle textures of wood and steel came alive before me, the grains of history wove intricacies that captivated me.

So friends, take a moment to look at things for the first time once more!

What is one thing you're going to look at with fresh eyes today?
