# What is Imagination?

#### According to Encarta Dictionary, it is the faulty or action of forming new ideas  or images or concepts of eternal objects not present to the senses. "The act of bringing things into consciousness that aren't here." Imagination allows us to think of things that aren't real or around us at any given time.

My friend who happen to be a professional graphic designer, have this to say;

>I visualize my concept first in my mind before interpreting it on my computer. I discovered that when you visualize image, you accomplish what you've proposed easily because you just go straight to the point. There is focus, no 'beating around the bush'. A crucial aspect of creative thinking is the capacity to imagine

#### Albert Einstein said *"Imagination is more important than knowledge, knowledge is limited. Imagination enriches the world."* However, I also noticed a twist; knowledge triggers imagination. The more you know about a particular thing, the more visuals you create. To improves our imagination, we must look to the source of our perceptions.

#### What fuel imagination is everything we already know. Our minds always come back around to what we already know. It's our nature to compare new experiences to the ones we've already had. Without that comparison we cannot begin to understand new ideas. What you imagine now, there is a higher percentage of becoming it . This is particularly why i want to draw your attention to creativity.
#### "The biggest differences between creativity and imagination is that imagination is that imagination is the thinking of something -whether object, place, time etc. that is not present; while creativity is doing something meaningful with our imagination"

#### Now creativity has to do with creating a new novel ideas which tends towards inventions and innovations. Linda Naiman rightly said, *"Creativity has to do with thinking then producing."* When you imagine, you are able to conceive ideas; with the aid of creativity, you will to refine  your ideas and work towards making it a reality. For instance, if you imagine yourself solving one of the major challenges facing your country, with your imagination you will begin to think of the necessary ideas you could bring to the drawing-board. In tackling this, your imagination could go wild, and creativity will help curtail and translate your concepts from thinking to producing . And so I would say that imagination and creativity are both innate, in other words they are natural abilities from God. Scriptures also confirms it in Genesis 11:6 saying ".....and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have # IMAGINED to do" (emphasis mine).

#### If you can visualize it, you can have it. Visualizing in art can be termed as 'painting in the atmosphere'.
#### To build a bridge between what we know and what is possible, we must do two things: first, we must build knowledge and gain new understanding of the world. If our minds can only imagine possibilities with the context of what we already know, then it's clear we must  increase that knowledge if we want to increase what we can imagine. Thankfully, knowledge is easily gained if you dedicate even a small amount of time to it. Secondly, once we have begun to build our knowledge , it therefore becomes essential to remain powerfully curious about that knowledge even humorously. We can do this by asking questions constantly, not about new things we experience, but about everything old and true as well.

#### Start using your imagination for productive things, task it for ideas on inventions, innovations and solutions to challenges and problems. Let us start using our imagination to transform  steemit community and our country. Be part of the change movement , inspire yourself in the right direction and apply your ideas rightly.
