**Hi Linux Fans all around the world,**

A year ago I decided to switch to a LINUX Operating System.
Reason was, my old laptop with an Intel Duo CPU was to weak for Windows 10.

It was very slow and so it was no fun to work with it.

The hardware was OK and so I was searching for an alternative to Microsoft.

I already knew, there are some Open Source Operating Systems out there with a kernel called Linux but I did not have any deeper knowledge about that.

So I started my research on this topic in YT-Channels, Books, and Magazines.

It was amazing to find out, that there are so many possibilities in LINUX-Land.

Windows 10 was impossible to use on this laptop so my risk to make a mistake was not very high.

After searching a few days for the right OS I found *Ubuntu Mate*.
It should work on older and weak PCs and be a perfect choice for newbies for its user-friendliness.

So I backed up my personal data, formatted my harddrive and then installed *Ubuntu Mate 16.04 LTS.*

The installation was no problem and after about half an hour later I booted Ubuntu Mate the first time.

My laptop was much faster than before. So it seemed this was the right decision.

It was no problem to import my personal data from an external harddrive.

Ubuntu Mate does not only install the OS itself, there is a lot of useful software preinstalled.

Libre Office is a very good alternative for Microsoft Office and there are tons of other applications available in the repositories.
