An experiment in Infrared

On our visit over the Easter weekend to XuiWeiXian, we were living in a cabin in the mountain.  I hoped to find many insects so I took my macro lens with me.  Although I did get a few insects, I did not manage to photograph stellar macro insect photos.  I think it is just because I am not in shape for hunting and photographing insects.

On one of the days, while searching for insects around our cabin, I noticed that all the ferns are unfolding their beauty for the new season.  I photographed one with the macro lens, and although I liked what I saw, I wondered how it will look in infrared.

I quickly went back to our cabin, change my camera for the infrared camera and mount the macro lens on the infrared camera.

When I focused on one of the young ferns, it was as if a new world unfolds in front of me.  For the next hour, I walked around looking for interesting macro compositions.

The insect hunting was totally forgotten!
