<p>A transgender satanic anarchist has won the Republican Party nomination for sheriff of Cheshire County, New Hampshire, after running with the campaign slogan ‘F*** the police.’</p>
<p>Despite having no support from (or for) the county or state GOP, Aria DiMezzo has won the nomination after running unopposed in the primary.</p>
<p><em>&quot;I can’t imagine they’re happy about this,&quot;</em> Aria DiMezzo said.</p>
<p>The head of the Cheshire County Republican Party, Marylin Huston, offered a congratulations to DiMezzo, but did not seem happy. Huston was also criticized for misgendering DiMezzo in her initial comments.</p>
<p><em>&quot;He did very well with the primary and that was wonderful,&quot;</em> Huston said.</p>
<p>Huston also suggested that DiMezzo ran as a Republican because she was unable to get onto the Libertarian Party’s ballot.</p>
<p><em>‘If you look at their social media and their political statements they really do not fall in line with the Republican message,</em>’ Huston said.</p>
<p>She reportedly signed up to run as a Republican two days before the deadline after learning that Earl Nelson, a longtime GOP candidate, was not running, which left the race wide open fo her to run unopposed. In 2018, DiMezzo ran as a Libertarian but only got 3% of the vote.</p>
<p><em>“I shouldn’t have won this freaking primary. I should have gotten crushed,”</em> DiMezzo said.</p>
<p>There was a campaign to stop her from winning, but it only managed to gather about 200 write-in votes for Earl Nelson, which was not enough to beat her. The campaign was organized by local republicans after they learned of DiMezzo&#x27;s religion, gender, and political views.</p>
<p>Next, DiMezzo will need to face Democrat Eli Rivera in another election. Rivera is expected to win, but DiMezzo says that she is more liberal than her opponent.</p>
<p><em>&quot;I’m more liberal than he is,&quot;</em> DiMezzo said.</p>
<p><em>&quot;There’s tons of things people get fined for, arrested for, that don’t actually have any victims,&quot;</em> she added.</p>
<p>DiMezzo supports getting rid of laws against victimless crimes like drugs, sex work, and illegal immigration, positions that have many local republicans extremely concerned.</p>
<p>Seeing activists getting elected to local positions like this is actually fairly common in New Hampshire, thanks to the<em> &quot;Free State Project,&quot;</em> a group of libertarians and anarchists who have moved to the state from all over the country in order to build communities and grow a voting base that can influence politics.</p>
<p>New Hampshire is also the home of Vermin Supreme, the satirical politician who wears a boot on his head and promises free ponies and mandatory teeth brushing. The Free State Project has been relatively successful at influencing politics in New Hampshire because the state has such a low population, which means that it takes fewer people to really tip the scales. In this case, DiMezzo ran entirely unopposed, which made it even easier.</p>
