The parable of the lost sheep in the Bible  tells us to look for the one lost sheep. As a teacher, one of my responsibilities is to look after my learners' welfare. For this year, I have not just one but two learners who are at risk of dropping out. To cut it short, I visited their homes in the hope of encouraging them to go back to school and take the test and other requisites for them to pass. 

Our first stop....

We only took picture with the house as our background. Nobody's home. My pupil was out playing somewhere. Both his parents are working. 
What should I do next? I learned that the child is suffering from skin infection and that he is ashamed to go back thinking he might be bullied in school. Big problem, right? 

Next stop....dump site

Yes, you heard me right. A few steps from where we are standing is the dumpsite area. Here, the residents make money from the garbage. And so does my pupil.  Instead of going to shool, he goes to the dumpsite area to earn money. 
The man I am talking in the picture above is the father. And just so you know, he was drunk that time. You can just imagine how I felt talking to a drunk. But for the sake of my so called extra effort to reach out to them, I managed to talk to him professionally. 

This is me, my job and my commitment to serve the children.
