# This seems like a pretty big deal Coinbase announced they will be paying people to work on bitcoin. Not a new altcoin, not an old altcoin, not a defi coin, not a derivative of bitcoin that benefits Coinbase in some way. Nope, they are paying people to contribute directly to bitcoin core.
