The earth that rotated on your property, which is accelerating more and more slowly, has been doing so since 2017, so if there is not enough time to do all your pending tasks, I have bad news for you.
<p><br></p>
You had probably always heard like me that the earth rotates more and more slowly due to something related to the influence of the moon, and this has always been the case, for example there is evidence that in the Jurassic the day lasted 23 hours it was one hour shorter and since the days were shorter, the years had 385 days, that is, the earth rotated on its axis 385 times in each revolution around the sun, not like now that it rotates 365 times more or less.

The dinosaurs were one hour behind in their day and still ruled the earth for 186 million years. During the 50s and 60s we invented atomic clocks that measure time with incredible precision and we have been able to notice how much longer the days while the earth slowed down in its rotation, in fact so that the solar day continues to coincide with our atomic clocks we have to adjust them from time to time for this reason from 1972 to the present 27 leap seconds have been added but in recent years the exact opposite is happening the earth is accelerating why this is happening is still a matter of debate.

<div class="text-justify">
Some believe that it is related to the Chandler wobble, which is a natural phase shift between the geographical poles of the earth and its axis of rotation that could be described as the wobble of a spinning top or whirligig; this wobble produced by the 9 meter gap between the geographic axis of the earth and its axis of rotation that occurs in cycles of 433 days is itself a mystery, since the earth is a ball of watery mass instead of a body rigid, in theory a wobble produced by external forces should disappear in 68 years but the most supported hypothesis is that it is produced by a combination of atmospheric and oceanic processes mainly the fluctuation of the pressure on the sea floor, but the Chandler wobble from the 2017 to the present has almost disappeared and coincides with the sudden acceleration of the rotation of the earth, perhaps they have something in common and the answer may be the climate.

In recent years the loss of ice at the poles as a result of the increase in global temperature, has had the effect of rounding the earth, the earth is almost a sphere, but it is flattened at the poles and the reason for this is largely the weight of the ice accumulated at the poles, which, being exposed to a smaller amount of sun, have lower temperatures as a result of the climate crisis, low temperatures are no longer so low, the ice melts, the glaciers break off and they float away to melt in warmer waters and the earth is a little rounder.

<p><br></p>
<div class="text-justify">
An ice skater who extends her arms and one leg as she spins is like the earth flattened at its poles by the weight of the ice and as this ice melts the earth becomes like a skater who spins with her arms close to her body, the turn is much faster, this is called conservation of angular momentum.
<p><br></p>

In the case of the earth the displacement of the mass is not so dramatic so its acceleration in rotation is smaller, but it can still be measured and as it accumulates it can force us to make an adjustment that we have never done before, instead of to add seconds to the day because the earth was turning more and more slowly as we have been doing it 27 times since 1972, now that it is speeding up we may have to add a negative leap second or subtract a second so that the solar day continues to coincide with our clocks atomic bombs and all of our technology and infrastructure.
<p><br></p>
Last June 29 was the shortest day since atomic clocks began to measure time, it was 1.59 milliseconds shorter, almost a month later on July 26 it was about to break that record again being 1.5 milliseconds shorter what seems like nothing, but if you are a formula 1 or professional race driver you know that this can be the difference between winning or losing; Don't worry though, the earth will keep spinning.
