#### A Streak Of Goodwil

A bias I've come to personally coin is the ruse of perfection. Now, there are so many times in life where we find ourselves getting it right. This means that every of our actions, decisions or thoughts are always spot on, there's a certain kind of streak we experience making it really easier to form confidence and belief in ourselves. Now getting it right for a long period of time can create a sense of perfection, we do not actually think we have been lucky, we attribute these *"streak of goodwill"* to our special abilities and this makes it difficult to ever settle for defeat, for less or even to see a need to change our winning formula or mentality.

Over the years I've discovered that the Inevitability of co-existing and cohabitating with others often takes away this sense of perfection, especially when people are willing to lose themselves in sacrifice for others to actually live comfortably. However, sometimes a lot of people find it difficult to be dynamic, change with time, be flexible and tender rather than rigid.

This is because they're caught up in the **bias of perfection**, the truth is, sometimes this bias makes it difficult to see things or situations from a broad perspective. So many people have accomplished a lot in life, through their excellent ability to read through parameters. They have exceptional skills for investment, in fact they've attributed their success to their ability to be painstakingly spot on and as a result of this, it's become difficult for them to change other aspects of their life.

They're always living in a particular bubble, so because they've mostly been successfully in all aspects of life, they've felt that it'll be difficult for them to actually fail in so many other aspects of life. **The bias of perfection** makes people desire to be efficient at all time, however people who are mostly this way, have problems, they find it difficult to cope with living with people. The truth is, life is full of people with difference in almost all aspect of life and sometimes to be able to co-exist, they have to let go of their belief in their state of perfection. However, people with a sense of perfection find this difficult and due to this, they end up living in their own standards, morals, rules and conditioning.

#### Aim For The Sun ~~Moon~~: Defy All Odds

Everyone at some point in time in life slips into the **perfection bias**. In this state, we hardly see any reason to weigh our actions with a general metric of equity simply because we can't just come to the terms that another person can be right we are wrong. The perfection bias can be very advantageous, especially when it comes to challenging oneself to be "the best" out of the *best*.

These challenges, helps us seek for more, we crave for knowledge, the ability to be surpassing as well as dominant in thoughts and action. Success specifically becomes Inevitable because this bias makes people aim for the sun, despite the almost impossible conditions or circumstances of aiming for "a near-impossible" accomplishment. However, when people as this fail to get to the sun, they land on the moon, meaning that, they're still a success even when didn't deem it to be so, by their standards.

Inhumane standards, makes people think they've been failures, even when it's only their metrics that makes it seem so. This is the downside of the perfection bias. The simplicity of life is often taken too seriously, given more complexity than it actually carries.

This complexity makes it difficult to see beyond *black or white* people are not prone to be suggestible, finding a balance and be easily drawn to the whole concept of change. The mind is powerful, it creates realistic and unrealistic possibilities. Sometimes people with perfection bias creates unprecedented scenarios in their mind, of other people, they blend this with their rigid beliefs making it hard to kind of place a different essence to their original understanding of life.

#### The susceptibility In Every Situation

**Perfection bias** is typically seen in great people, more than it does of average people. One of the rarest reasons why people fail is that they believe they're too perfect to actually fail, because failure isn't something they're used to or because they are just too prepared to actually fail. Man's lack of omnipotence counters this dogmatic ideology.

The susceptibility of success or failure is always in every situation especially when we as humans cannot control every aspect, every possibility or circumstances in the universe and this is always an inconsequential detail whenever people are planning. There are details often glaring to our very eyes, but then we can only work based on the parameters we can actually observe. This is to say that in the long run, the perfection bias is toxic and prone to self-destruction, but it can sometimes challenge people to be the best version of themselves, especially in its mildest form.

The perfection bias can also be dangerous. This article reminds me of a close friend who had used this to successful in everything he does, but then he had never had a taste of failure. When he did, it broken him that consider suicide because he blame himself for not being competent enough.

We humans all have imperfection, but we all strive to be perfect everyday. When failures comes like my dad always says, "accept it, realize your mistakes and try again"

Enjoyed reading your piece. Stay safe.
