Most post-apocalyptic TV shows portray scarcity in a more intense manner, which can be very intriguing; you get to see some incredible adaptability and management skills, as well as how they will repeat this until they get out of a crisis situation.


People are fighting over simple things like shaving sticks, beer, slippers, old boots, sweaters, canned and processed food from stores before the zombies took over, and these were not even a flex or a luxury back when the plague had not taken over. 

Anyone can go to any store and spend $50 to $100 on toiletries or canned food without feeling special, but now they are killing themselves to have these things.




The biggest crisis for these guys at the time was having to share limited food and survival supplies with other survivors, and that was not all.

 These other survivors want a larger share for themselves, which sparks a rivalry and leads to killings. So, rather than banding together to combat the larger evil, which was the zombie apocalypse that forced them into survival mode, they will continue to choose to survive the immediate crises, which include killing other clans and keeping their food and survival kit to themselves.


## Survival-mode is a phase


.... Especially in this era, century, year and time 


While we are not in an apocalyptic state where zombies have wiped out the population, there are still basic survival situations caused by war, poverty, and a lack of immediate access to emergency funds. 




**I recently spoke with someone who shared their survival tips with me..**


Essentially, they have stopped purchasing comfort or luxury items in order to save enough money to cover the necessities of survival until their finances improve.


This tip is particularly useful to me because we often underestimate the cost of luxury and comfort. While we may not need them right away, they are essential to life and keep people happy, fulfilled, and entertained.


## Burning your ladder to get warm


 No human will die if they do not have access to luxury, and sometimes people dedicate to taking it away in order to make room for things that are not expendable or replaceable in their existence. 

When a boat sinks, for example, the people on board may try to lighten the boat by discarding any heavy material that may contribute to its sinking state; these items may not be necessary when they land on the shore, but they may not make it if they sink in the middle of the ocean. 



## The greater good?


Sacrifices are always made to ensure survival; they are often unpleasant, but they are necessary for continuity. Why do people have to go through survival periods? Why not simply blow up everything and give up?


Again, take another look at the post-apocalyptic television show concepts. You see people being bitten in the neck, families losing their loved ones, depression setting in, choas and disaster.


You'd think these people would just roll over and choose to end it, but no, instead the choose to live to see another day. This is why they make shorter plans and forego the luxury of longer ones, because today is more important than yesterday or tomorrow.


The immediate need to feed and survive appeared to outweigh the larger need to be free of the plague, because feeding, clothing, and shelter are the basic needs that ensure they have a chance to live another day.



 > When it comes to survival, most people simply live for the next day.


 Future goals are a mirage if current needs are not met. A person need to be able to survive for longer periods, maybe even longer than they or others might have expected, and this persistent survival will birth a conviction in them that they can now go on to do the unexpected, even far more than they've previously done. 


the longer you survive, the more confident you become in your management and survival skills, and these confidence is an important ingredient in the game of survival. There is no mountain more important than the one in front of you, and no matter how many more mountains you climb, you can only take one step at a time.
