Splinterlands Guilds are not to be overlooked when it comes to the various ways to actively participate in the splinterlands ecosystem. It is even better because you can enjoy both earning and playing. 

The way it helps you own more merit, which in turn helps you to build more gladius cards is also exciting, and most importantly how you can literally grow your stash of SPS when you actively participate. It is no secret that I enjoy playing Splinterlands, and I still do today.

 I have kept up with all of the latest abilities and cards, and I have managed to remain competitive.

## Why I Left Former Guild


My former guild was very competitive, but in the last 3 to 5 months, it has become uncompetitive, with people leaving their battles unattended.

 They fill their fray but do not participate in battles; I believe some people became disinterested and stopped playing, and an active Guild had previously become one with only four players per brawl. 

I probably thought it would improve, but it didn't. I loved the guys and the experience, but no one wanted to play again, and I felt it was time to move on. 

Without active participation, a Guild cannot rank well or earn rewards, which is disheartening.

## The New Guild

 So I contacted @burlarj and asked if there was a Guild I could join, and he promptly set me up with EMP money. I would previously received Guild invitations from various Guilds, but I never joined, so it was time to move on. 

Apparently, the new Guild (EMP) seeks active participation. I see players being removed when they don't meet up and that's what's up. There is simply too much at stake not to participate, and all you have to do is jump into the fray, fight, and contribute.

 In reality, I think it's gotten to that that where I realize *"I need more staked SPS"* kinda thought, and I wanted to put my cards to good use.


However, I would not consider myself a good player with good cards. I am the kind of guy who will consistently participate. Because I am not smart or brilliant, I rely on consistency and showing up every day to compensate for my lack of brilliance.

First Guild Results 


Apparently, this is reflected in my recent brawl results. I'm the average Guild guy. I may not rank first, but I am confident in my ability to perform, enter every fray, and fight all of my battles regardless. 

This was demonstrated in my first outing with the new Guild. I played nine games, winning five and losing four. I know it is not my best performance, but it is an average one, and I can do better.

 I lost a few games and was simply unlucky. I believe this is the ideal guild, where everyone wants to get on with their duties and play their games, and it provides an excellent opportunity to earn more merit and SPS.

## No Time To Be Caught Off-Guard

So we all earned 2.2k Merit and 35.7 SPS, which is a significant upgrade, and now I just need to improve my battle performance for myself and the Guild as a whole. 

The market is starting to heat up, and from now until the end of the year, it is an accumulation zone that no one should mess with.

 With the merit rewards, I can actually purchase more gladius cards to remain competitive, and with the SPS, I can obtain even more staked SPS due to the APR on staked SPS. I currently own 14K, a small number, but it probably gets better.
