These days many have proclaimed themselves poets, simply because they can make two words rhyme at a time. In some other cases musicians have started adding the tag "POET" to the list of their portforlios.

However being a poet should be earned. It takes so many steps to perfectly coin a poem, take a look at the shakespearean era, the man was a master of a type of poem called sonnet.
In fact two type of poem existed, and the first type was named after him, "THE SHAKESPAREAN SONNET"


People however do not follow rules when writting poetry.

A poem is of many types, like Ode, Dirge, Elegy, Ballad, limerick, Blank verse, free verse, Haiku and many more.

Due to lack of poetic know people tend to write prose poetry thinking its a poem, they even never knew, that a poem should contain, figure of speeches, literary devices and even rhythmic and stanzaic devision.

But how can we fault that? People who aren't really into art, tend to enjoy rhymes alone, to bothering to check the content and analyse the poem.

Shame isn't it?
As a would be poet, i love using the essential ingridients in writting poem, and i'm sure that sharing my secret to writting a rich content poem would help an aspiring poet who seems lost writting a real poem.

FIRST, FIGURES OF SPEECHES: this is quite difficult, considering the fact that we have more than 200 figures of speeches, and mastering them is a no mean feat, however a whole lot of study with figure of speeches can help you master and know them.

KNOWING THE TYPE OF POEM: just as i mentioned above, we have many type of poem, and before we write we have to first look at our subject matter, to know what type of poem we need to write, like for example, an EPIC type of poem is quite good, if we want to write about war.


RHYMES: Of course its needed. However we need to study rhyme schemes before we can learn to use rhymes, dont just use them for no reason, use them because there will be a value added to that stanza. Tommorow, i shall bring the remaining tutorial, on how to write a good poem.
