Mitigating Over expectations When Early Adopting.

During the course of investing, Over expectation is something that undermines a product/venture/investment scheme's attempt at growth. This overly happens when people are investing into something that has a track record of success. When a person for example is investing, they're checking the number of people who have succeeded in that venture, to the ratio of people who have failed and this becomes a narrow-minded approach in a situation where there are other circumstances or conditions that should even be put in place.

Originally, I know a lot of people who don't invest because the prospect might be challenging, they feel it's *dangerous waters* and one of the reasons why I can't blame them is that, that particular aspect of them coming alive is their mental accounting. When people invest due to *FOMO*, they're likely blind to the other reasons why they should be investing and because they don't want to miss out, they fail to see any chances of failure, making them utterly disappointed when failure comes in play.

#### *Let's take a look at Hive*

.....Splinterlands is one of the reasons why people are beginning to invest into gaming projects. The likes of **dcrops** and **PsyberX.**This is because the people who were the earliest investors in splinterlands are probably made for life. Splinterlands made people believe that play2earn was real and changing lives. Now many already feel that the splinterlands ship has sailed and due to this, they've promised themselves to be early adopters in whatever gaming project that will be built on the Hive blockchain.

This is partly one of the reasons why the Hive blockchain has recently embraced **PsyberX**. So many have gone out of their pockets to invest thousands of dollars into the game, to unlock features that could prospectively change their financial situation forever. Now asides reading the white paper and understanding the plans set aside by the team, how many people are actually investing because they truly want to?

#### *FOMO* is a double-edged sword.

Let's not forget, it's good in the sense that, it Hive users cannot embrace and invest in projects built on the chain, how then will the quality reflect externally, without internal marketing, flawless marketing and the emotional appeal the game brings to Hive users? On the other hand, *FOMO* creates over expectations. When people fear to miss out of prospective *gains* they fail to realize *gains* are not the only thing that comes out of a project. However, we should realize that *FOMO* has its sources.

When people feel sad for not being an early investor in prospects that could have made them rich, it brings a particular gullibility to every decision they tend to make. This is now *FOMO* is birthed. When people truly miss out, they try to make up by not wanting to miss out on every investment opportunity that comes their way. The imagination of being rich but discovering you aren't because of a singular action you could have taken, that regret lives with them (people) for a very long time.

Part of the reasons why many sold all the leofinance's base DeFi project; cub when the dip began was because they initially had a lot of mental constructs, of when they'll finally become wealthy. Now cub was a project that needed that extra believe.

It required holders to continue holding on but because a lot of people weighed their expectations with the disappointments that came with the dip. They built unrealistic wealth dreams on a genesis project that required a lot of time to actually thrive and this was because of the excessive *FOMO* that surrounded cubs at that particular time.

People who weren't even believers of Hive began to farm cubs, because of the greed and not because cub was Hive's maiden DeFi project. Going back to PsyberX, there's no guarantee It'll be as successful as splinterlands, but people are already holding high hopes which is good, but building unrealistic dreams which is terrible.

#### Minimally Vested Reasonably ~~Emotionally~~

One of the ways to mitigate *FOMO*, is to go back to the base core of crypto investing which is investing in only what you can afford to lose. Everyone wants to be rich with crypto, but the chances that we would be rich without compounding is actually slim. I have seen people who are liquidating their assets to buy into projects because of *FOMO* they actually *throw in the towel,* forgetting every attempt at caution.

Normally we subconsciously set a realistic expectation for a project or a venture, this is attained from the satisfaction we derive from doing our research. However, what is totally wrong is setting over expectations from previous successful projects that might have been similar to the ones we're investing in. To be candid, not every *early adopter* is set to become wealthy, to think otherwise is to create an aggrandizing illusion.

One's quest to be rich should balance their sense of reasoning. The reason why people cannot wait for a project to organically grow is because they're too monetarily vested, making the gullible to making irrational choices. Investing proportionally is the key as it takes away emotional attachment. At the end of the day, we truly lose while attempting to gain everything.

Well, I consider most of what I invested into Defi something I earned on the chain. I am fine with it going down to zero if I am wrong but I also think it's a great way to generate a source of income. All investments have risks but I can see this all paying off in the future.

Well, I guess you're prepared for the wins and the loses. Your expectation is quite normal and this is actually how you maintain a balance. So many people have their emotions tied to the prospects of the gains and all and it affected their decisons.

This is often neglected while considering investment..

> One of the ways to mitigate FOMO, is to go back to the base core of crypto investing which is investing in only what you can afford to lose

And it's such a pity that these principles are forsaken. If you invest in what you believe in and fully understand, you will not panic even if the market dips to zero level.
