Recently, I decided to check my feed, read some posts, and probably get "wowed" by some photography skills, splinterlands posts, or maybe some other forms of content I didn't know about that might thrill me. I was saddened by 70% of the content I saw, they were totally uninspiring. It was either the ideas were not probably thought out by the author, or they were just in a rush to click the "post" button.

It was difficult for me to click "vote" because I derived hardly any value and this is always the intent. I guess it's just me, I probably place so many expectations when I click the "view" button, I'm probably hoping to leave with valuable knowledge added to my arsenal and this is why I end up saddened, maybe I shouldn't be.

> *But Everyone Has Their Fetish*

......**and can't control it. I'm mostly drawn to creative impression, guile, and the ability to be epic** What I mostly do is check the header of a post, (always originally owned headers) or the art in which the title of the post is. In reality, I used to love good old *"click bait"*, but the issue with clickbait is that it's quite difficult to do it when you're reporting a piece of news online, or trying to rewrite an already-written work.

However, the whole aspect of contenting should be valued, and if this is not the initial intent, it would be difficult for an author to create the mental need to put in efforts to ascribe "impact" to their content. But it could be completely different and I might not totally be right.

### Value & Sentimental Value

> *Something to consider?*

Nevertheless, while value is relative, there's a way we can differently see value because people have a different fetish when it comes to what an individual will value most. This is a testament to the fact that people can differently see a reason to dislike or like the content.

sometimes an author can make a positive or negative impact in different ways and irrespective of the fact we might see things differently, when a content fails to hit it, it's difficult to attach that perspective or sentimental value to it. For some people, the thoughts of efforts not being equal to value are the cause of low effort. Some people create the mindset that efforts have to be equal to rewards, but the truth is, hive is a representation of real life.

### Measuring Work: Soft Or Hard?

> *With What Metrics?*

Some masons are more hardworking than bank Managers in real life, but the former is paid poorly while the latter is paid lesser. This is to say that efforts are measured differently. There are times people hit their highest level of productivity, but it wouldn't create that level of impact on those who are responsible to measure the degree of that value.

This only creates a downward slide, because sometimes people perceive or measure value from their point of view and when they hit that mental stretch, they begin to hit a decline because of their inability to keep improving themselves. The concept of entitlement is different. Sometimes overvaluing ourselves rather than choosing the measure ourselves with external yardsticks is why people hardly grow. They're stuck in the bubbles of excuses. Giving different reasons why they cannot keep trying if they'll keep failing.

The was a time I was underpaid in a job, irrespective of how underpaid I was, I tapped into the fact that the owner of the business lets me make my own mistakes and learn from them. I continued to accept underpayment as the sacrifice I had to make to grow. This is because I didn't overestimate my efforts, a lot of people would do that same job for less money.

**While this is totally unfair, we have to understand that life and money are generally unfair**

### The Experiential journey

We cannot completely fathom how life works, but sometimes, seeing 100% "rightness" in the way we value ourselves, makes us blind to the bigger picture. Sometimes, our minds are smaller because logic isn't always ascribed to life and the bigger representation. This is why we should try to be liberal in our perception.

Back to content creation, I believe the value we get is the one we've accumulatively given and not the single efforts here and there. Sometimes when we want to think singular efforts go far, but no, I do not think so. At the end of the day, we're often left with changing our perception of work, effort, and value.

I guess the higher your stake becomes, the more skeptical you become on clicking vote so as to not just vote any post, but posts you consider of value. That is mostly not the case with newer accounts with smaller stakes, because we believe our stakes are not big enough to make a significant difference. Like you said though, value is relative. It could mean something as simple as whether a content is interesting or educative to some, or a complex assessment like originality of pictures used and availability of technical information in a post.

value comes when we make ourselves valuable, by investing in ourselves, when we are so valuable we might do less and get rewarded greatly for it.

>Sometimes overvaluing ourselves rather than choosing the measure ourselves with external yardsticks is why people hardly grow.

It's a sad reality that most of us get too comfortable with our capabilities, even if one does stand out and our value, effort or work is acknowledged to be excellent. One should remain motivated to grow and continue to put ourselves into situations that are unfamiliar to others: we turn to be valued more when we put ourselves in a demanding situation that raises challenges and preserve originality.

Same way with writing content, you are right that a piece that lacks originality and effort to be unfamiliar can be disappointing especially if the title got the reader's hopes up. But it is also a learning curve to follow the footsteps of those who are already successful in what you want to achieve, it becomes a problem when one doesn't know where to draw the line between imitating and learning from others. When we imitate the work of others, we trade off our creativity to come up with something that lacks feelings and enthusiasm. This also leaves room for a lack of motivation for continuity.

I like your mindset when you had a low-paying job. How you chose growth- to focus your energy on learning to do the job better and to rather work on yourself than have a pity party.

Well sometimes it's believed that being overly comfortable is a way to appreciate one's efforts and value, but I do believe that while this is true, it might signal complacency at the end of the day. Being or ending up being complacent is something we shouldn't even consider and this is because sometimes we might be wrong in the positive accessment of ourselves. So we need to maintain a balance. I'm glad this feels relatable.
As for contenting, I think it might be difficult but one needs to grow individually even if we want to reference others, their contents and their style as our inspiration, but growth is what we instinctively decide to do on our own and this greatly correlates with you too.

> I like your mindset when you had a low-paying job. How you chose growth- to focus your energy on learning to do the job better and to rather work on yourself than have a pity party.

When one grows up in a difficult and challenging environment, you'd have to be wise to survive because survival itself is a skill. So yeah, I chose to be tethered and kept learning.

Well said. overvaluing ourselves or our ability can be damaging and it's always good to practice healthy self-awareness and Constantly aim to improve by measuring ourselves against our maximum potential and not necessarily the yardstick of others’ abilities.

>When one grows up in a difficult and challenging environment, you'd have to be wise to survive because survival itself is a skill. So yeah, I chose to be tethered and kept learning.

Agreed, identifying your coping mechanism and resilience threshold is key in this life cause things won't always go our away!

RE: Money: Work, Effort & Value
It's hard to really value things as everyone has a different perspective of what is valuable. Life is full of unfair things and we can only do the best we can. Of course, I do think that some of us do get complacent and stop trying to change though.

RE: RE: Money: Work, Effort & Value
Well value is relative to different people as we tend to become sentimentally opinionated about what is true value. Like you said, life's unfair and sometimes we even get to lazy to change things.

>This is a testament to the fact that people can differently see a reason to dislike or like the content.

Content created by an author will surely be viewed by different people. Some people might like it, especially when it relates to them or the things they do and they were able to grab one or two things from it while others tend to dislike the content because they totally disagree with the author's view. Nevertheless, the effort put into work has to be valued but the reward must not be equal (=).

>Some masons are more hardworking than bank Managers in real life.

I have seen this a couple of times. Most masons perform their jobs manuallyπŸ‘¨β€πŸ”§ which is stressful 😩😩 and at the end of the day, they are paid a small amount of money πŸ’΅. On the other hand, bank managers who perform stress-free tasks comfortably with fans and AC are paid the sum of money. It is unfair but I've come to know that this only happens because of the importance attached to each.

Nice content @josediccus πŸ‘Œ.

This is what I actually meant by different point of views and I'm glad you've seen this. In reality this totally means that life is unfair value is relative and it's basically rewardable by sentiment rather than what we measure as hardwork. However, this is the way the world functions. We have different views of idea or what worth means and this is the main reasons why as can never measure people equally.
As for contenting on hive, it'll always be relatable to what we have on hive. But, we also have to offer our own form of value.

@pinkchic ·
Regardless of being liked or disliked, I firmly believe that if we enjoy what we are doing, surely we may forget to see how a certain content is valued by other people. Sometimes, it is a luck when it is being liked by many.

Your thoughts are profound and I love how you share the reality in content creation.

The key is to keep the flame burning and not to give up. Have a nice time my friend and take care.

@thecuriousfool ·
> Some people create the mindset that efforts have to be equal to rewards, but the truth is, hive is a representation of real life.

This is really the sad truth. It is sad because hard work does not generally mean value. I for one, took a long time to realized this. I've met some people in and outside of Hive who expect high reward because they put so much effort on their work that they ended up disappointed in the end. I tried convincing them to try again for the experience over the reward but most of them didn't.

In terms of content creation, I value the creativity and originality put into the thumbnail, title and the short description. This is what makes me read the content or not. I usually skip to read those who are using repetitive titles, thumbnails and description.

In my case however, I am aware that I needed to improve a lot about writing and that is the reason why I kept on writing whatever I can think of. Believe it or not, but most of my post takes days to complete. If I am just after the reward then I would have quit a long time ago. 😊
