I've been seeing pictures of people pulling out legendaries from their chaos legion packs, and once again, I decided to try my luck with the packs.

 Apart from this, I have cards that are not at the level I want them to be, so it would make sense to open up some packs to get some single cards to complete them. But before now, I had previously opened about 10 packs without getting anything decent from the opening and because of that I just decided to leave my packs, hoard them and probably sell them at a higher price someday.

### Applying My "Risk Mitigation Theory"

However, I changed my mind and decided to do otherwise. I had 7 packs, so I decided to sell 4, instead of standing the chance of opening up everything and losing the total value. I was happy I did so.

 I had wanted to buy some hive recently, so I sold them and sent the proceeds (swap.hive) to my hive account. On the other hand, I decided to test my **risk mitigation theory** by opening the remaining packs. 

**(PS: if I had any inkling that I might at least get two regular BCX of even any summoner after opening all the seven packs, then I'd have gone ahead)** my theory was bent on saving me some dollar value.

### Not Overruling any possibility

Although, who is to say that one out of the packs I sold wouldn't contain a legendary? This is always a possibility. Opening everything and losing out on the potential of getting anything decent, was why I saved some cost dollar value by selling some of them.

 After opening the three packs, I was even more disappointed than I thought I would initially, and they were probably my worst pack-opening experience on splinterlands.

 Another reason why I went on to open then was that I was beginning to get a lot of potion rewards and I had gk put them into good use, having those potions without using them feels strange.

### Obtaining Value By Any Means Necessary


I like to obtain value from whatever assets I'm holding, especially if I'm earning them as rewards for constantly showing up and grinding endlessly. The cards I got from the packs filled no need at all. They weren't relevant in helping complete some of the cards I have. 

Even the epic card I got is rarely used by anyone in the game. This made my decision to firstly sell 4, a very decent one and for the first time, I'm flipping my splinterlands returns for hive, which brought a very good feeling to me. 

I also sold some hive engine tokens as well. Got the hive returns and powered myself up some decent 25 hive. I also staked some LGN token, gotten from holding some BRO. I'm looking at getting back something to help me buy back some splinterlands assets, but the returns are still pretty low.

> **I couldn't wait anymore to sell the packs at a higher price**

 ....this was because, even when the splinterlands' market booms, it's likely to follow the trend of the bull market. Hive on the other hand will boom. 

So why not sell them, and use the profit to earn some potential curation rewards while still standing a chance of selling them higher when the market eventually begins to do well? 

Eventually, I'll have to keep building my splinterlands deck, but selling some assets like packs and vouchers at the moment might help me save some money in hive which I can take out to improve my deck in the future.

### A strategy going Forward

One of the things I planned to do is sell some cards when the splinterlands' Market begins to boom, take the profit, and come back like six months later to buy back these cards at a cheaper rate while having some returns to potentially have more skin in the game or choose to keep some decent profits for myself. 


At the end of the day, choosing to buy hive is never a loss, the profit potentiality is immense, so I'll continuously apply all these tactics to my pack rewards, especially if hive is still purchasable at some decent price.
