I was watching a video on X (Twitter) in which a girl appears to be openly telling a man (possibly a partner or boyfriend) that if he was broke, she would have left him. To me, it appeared to be a joke to farm engagement; perhaps it was, perhaps not, but it did generate hundreds of engagements. Why? > **An Evergreen Phenomena** This is a contentious issue that is always cause for concern in human society. The human need for companionship, partnership, and relationship causes us to meet people from all walks of life on a daily basis, and sometimes we silently pray and hope that the people we become involved with in various ways, such as business partners, friends, wives, or husbands, will have the best holistic and true intentions towards us without tying their loyalty to gains that without it, we will become surplus to requirements. ## We Are The Things We Hate Many people appeared to condemn the girl, but the truth is that most people are like her, with the only difference being that they choose to remain silent about it, whereas this internet girl chooses to be vocal. To be honest, many of the relationships we maintain are silently motivated by something; the altruistic intentions we may have are mostly secondary, but it only appears worse when people appear to be in it for the former and have no intentions for the latter. ### The Art Of Grading I have met a lot of people in my life, and one thing I have noticed is that people are prone to giving something in exchange for something else, life is cyclical and mutual I do not mind this; the main issue is when there is deception, and someone appears to be bringing more than what they are. It's basically why I now prefer a form of relationship where everyone knows they are giving to get, and if they can't give then they can't get. It's crude, but it's not deceptive, this way, everyone defines their role. This is why people mistake colleagues, partners or acquaintances for friends, the more you can grade people into sequence, the better for your sanity. So whether people are bringing less or more, the intent is mostly all that matters and it will help the person on the other end of the table decide whether they are okay with what you are bringing. ## Honesty Contradicts People The issue is not what they (people) are offering; rather, it is the deception that they will appear to offer more in order to gain the other party's endearment, love, or loyalty. ## We Condemn What We Can Potentially Become While many people will condemn the lady in the video, I personally commend her because she has stated the basis or conditions that are required to maintain her loyalty: more money. Having or not having enough money is never a problem; people are always the problem. Circumstances change; people who are rich, healthy, famous, handsome, or beautiful will not always be the same, but having people around them change as these statuses change is one of the most difficult problems a person will face throughout their lives. ## "Blaming" Is A Methods Of Justification Most of the time, we blame circumstances, situations, and others, but the truth is that it is important to always consider the possibility that life will change and try to relate to others as these changes will impact or stir us to change as well. ### Nothing Wrong In Loving Money I do not think there is anything wrong with women who value money in relationships; in fact, maintaining relationships requires money. Being open about the fact that you can not be with a man if they lose their money and status is the best thing you can do for him. Money causes people to lie, feign loyalty and care when, in fact, they are in it for other reasons. Honesty is a rare virtue, and some of the people we consider "good" in quotes lack it. The ability to talk about your biggest flaws and stand firm on them, no matter how bad they are, is honesty, and it will now be up to the other person to decide whether they are okay with you turning on them when things are no longer going well. I know it does not make sense, telling people you are in it for the money at the beginning, but inasmuch people go on to become best of friends or love the other person for who they truly are (to an extent), the truth is that for money, good life, status, and good will, we rarely change who we are, most of the time we bury our deepest desires, darkest intentions deep down, just to bring the artificial "good guy" persona to the surface, because this is the only true persona that can > **However, there are times when our decency contradicts our darkest desires** This is when people start to fight their instincts, trying to see if they can overcome the desire to betray someone. We are the harshest critics of others, but weighing ourselves may make us less so. There is nothing wrong with being in it for the money; it is part of your personality. One of the darkest things you can do in life is deny this in order to buy endearment. Money has existed for eons; it will never change or modify people because they are who and what they choose to be.

> **Interested in some more of my works**

##### [Is it Easy To Make Money?](https://peakd.com/hive-167922/@josediccus/is-it-easy-to-make-money-) ##### [Nigeria: A Unique Business Market & Industry](https://peakd.com/hive-167922/@josediccus/nigeria-a-unique-business-market-and-industry) ##### [Virtual Bank Apps In Nigeria: An Experience Of Gamification](https://peakd.com/hive-167922/@josediccus/tfgktsjk) ##### [How To Find The Next "BIG" Meme Coin](https://peakd.com/hive-167922/@josediccus/how-to-find-the-next-big-meme-coin) ##### [Personal Finance: Achieving Intentional "Saving" Goals](https://peakd.com/hive-167922/@josediccus/snyczgol) ##### [Playing The Survival Game: Human Nature In Introspection](https://peakd.com/hive-167922/@josediccus/playing-the-survival-game-human-nature-in-introspection-rufcp3) ##### ["Un-PAYING" The Debt You Owe](https://hive.blog/hive-167922/@josediccus/-unpaying-the-debt-you-owe)
 Posted Using [InLeo Alpha](https://inleo.io/@josediccus/what-can-you-not-do-for-money)

I also think that a lot of people really look at money a lot. If it's a part of who you are, then it's only going to exist. I don't see any reason to lie about it when you might be considering something further such as marriage. It's only going to bite you down the road because you didn't know.

Well, many people like just to get what they want out of the union, some people wants comfortable lives. Sometimes they feel you might get offended when they tell you their true intentions

Hmm Why did you commend her because she stated her conditions for dating the guy which is βmore moneyβ? The guy may not go broke but there are times when he may want to do a project and he gotta spend less Does it mean the love will fade away by then since there is nothing to spice up the relationship anymoreβ¦

I commend her for saying the truth, it was a good thing. While her interns are wrong, being truthful no matter how beastly it is, is a very good virtue I think.

I think being honest upfront reduces a lot of the friction that may later emerge about what each part wants or expects from the other. People will change externally and internally as time goes by, so also taking stock of that can help in making better decisions on which relationships to get into or not. I think nowadays people are more unpredictable than ever.

Being truthful is not just godly, it helps others to understand your intentions and all that. I feel that half of the world's problems will be solved when people are honest about their intentions before hand. It takes away expectations that shouldn't be there.

I'm sorry she was like that. Women tend to change a lot of times in marriage, you'd be surprised they're not the people you once knew. It's a painful thing
