What's The Value Of Your Conversation? (Part 1)

<hr>

One of man's biggest attribution is his ability to use his interactive and communicative skills as a problem-solving technique. On the other hand, poor communicative skills can create mismanagement, misunderstanding and create problems.

I know people who talk for a living, realtors for one. Their ability to convince people otherwise, sells their properties.

The process of the job involves persuading and cajoling people into taking a particular course of action that would be more beneficial to them rather than the one they initially had in mind.

 The ability to convey knowledge in a conversational form is a huge money-making outlet. Impacting familiarity, trust, and knowledge is one of the most sophisticated ways of networking, sometimes our ability to properly network is far bigger than our physical qualifications.

### Value Outweighs Value

 Creating an illusion of value can outrightly make people see the value you see in yourself, while we might not truly carry the value we think we carry.

sometimes the conversational ideologies we have within ourselves often sell our stock while we're working hard daily to improve ourselves.

We live in a world of fakery, people are boosting themselves to some particular capacity on paper, this is why every prospective conversation we have towards networking should be to convince others that we embody an aspect of contribution that would be useful to them.

Some people envalue themselves far better than others

### Self-aggrandizement Is The Game

This is one of the reasons why in some rarest situations, the least qualified person in a job interview is given the job and not the person who is far more qualified on paper.

This is because while paper qualification automatically sells people, it might not guarantee real-life value, and this is why we shouldn't feel inferior to people who carry qualifications on paper because we might even be more capable than they are to solve real-life issues and profer better solutions more than they can do.

Many years ago, I went to do a job test. I was supposed to convince the committee that I was capable of doing the job they wanted me to.

The truth was that, what they wanted me to do wasn't my field, I could easily have talked them to test me in my field, rather than trying to allow them to impose on me the idea that a professional should be versatile in any field they're tested in.

due to this I failed the whole test, rather than creating a convincing conversation to show them what I was really good at doing.

Sometimes, we fear the consequences of failure more than failure itself, this is one of the reasons why I use to advise people to constantly work on the areas they can embody value in and try to do this to others in a conversational manner.

### Versatility Can Tame Direction

 Even with the right form of knowledge, we still need to sell ourselves to others, there are people who have gotten to the pinnacle of life, not because they're qualified but because they've created a solid network by engaging in persuasive conversation that bought them their way to the top.

A lot of people undervalue the things they can say or project, because of how the fear of consequences. Now I'm not saying people should override their feelings when they sense that there might be failure ahead.

What I'm saying is that sometimes, we miss out on exciting and incentivizing outcomes, because of how we tend to inflate the consequences of negative feedback.

 **To be very honest, we fear the outcome of a situation more than the incentives that might come out of such scenarios.**

 We live in a world where we can never have enough money, affluence, connections, or means.

There are times we need other people to offer us some of these things I mentioned, but how do you sway them enough to part with their valuables?

How do you ask people to offer you their goodwill or gestures without actually giving off the vibes that you're entitled? One of the ways to simply do this is to damn the consequences of failure and create a convincing conversation.

RE: What's The Value Of Your Conversation? (Part 1)
It's a concept that people need to understand as well. Businesses are paying you for the value you provide and if you don't provide enough value, then it won't last very long. I agree that people shouldn't be afraid to promote their own strengths. That is the best way to show how much value you can provide.

Thanks for this beautiful post.
In July 2021, I had an interview and my interviewers were about 7 in the room, a medical elder was there with other non medical personnels.
It was after the interview session that I knew I had answered a question wrongly but, I spoke confidently about it.
Today, I'm an employee of the organization.

You're right about being able to communicate however, confidence and knowledge of any topic is important.
There's a saying that, know something about everything and not everything about some things.

Being able to communicate will also depend on how we are able to read and understand the person we're trying to communicate with.

Thanks once again for this

Hahaha, the way we choose to convey our communicate speaks volume, imagine if you hadn't chosen to speak the way you did, it would have been a different outcome. I'm glad you're gainfully employed. No one is completely immune from mistakes and you got the chance to prove that you could do the job.
Thank you for the elaborate reply because such post as this would have needed a real life experience to validate it.

Communication itself is something some people underrate. Expressing one self leads to a lot, solves misunderstandings and doubts.. it makes way to opportunities

Being able to express yourself sensibly regardless of the outcome is a blessing. Many people have watched many opportunities go because for fear of negative outcome.. this can leads to regret. That can lead to pain…….

RE: RE: What's The Value Of Your Conversation? (Part 1)
Negative outcome in itself is a demotivation. Sometimes the incentive of being instantaneously rewarded might not really occur to some people because of the fear of repercussion. What I do know is that there is always a feedback for communication. One of the reasons why people fail to do sharpen their communicative skills is because they often underestimate how much they can potentially stand to gain.

Just like you said, when they finally realise this, there might be regrets

@olujay ·
Really, one's abilities and qualifications may very well mean nothing if one is not able to put themselves out there. No one will look at your side or even think about you if they don't even know what you are about. The art of holding convincing and persuasively meaningful conversations should never be underrated but rather honed.

As much as I like to "respect myself and keep to myself" sometimes, I am learning to make the best out of the conversations I have with people. I actively try to build connections with people, especially when I see prospects. The "introverted lifestyle" will not get anyone far. I have to learn to turn on or off when necessary.

Interesting post, the power of speech comes in handy especially at job interviews where the first impression matters. Many qualified candidates are usually overlooked since they aren't convincing enough. Even in daily life, knowing how to talk to people is very important to get what you want, you always have to compliment and add value to expand your network of friends who might help you further ahead. Words and how they are put forth are very important in all aspects of life.
Thank you for sharing and keep enjoying your weekend :}

RE: RE: What's The Value Of Your Conversation? (Part 1)
So many people are being dispatched during interview. The problem with these interviewers is that they do not even know that some of these people have bigger potentials their first interview. However you would also want to blame the person being interviewed especially when they messed up in some particular areas. Imagine being able to add some specific value and not know how to communicate it. This is one of the reasons why people eventually understand themselves.

Thanks for the amazing comments

I think I wasnΒ΄t bold enough to persuade the owner of a private school when I went for an interview because I was afraid and even shaking which made some things I ought to say fly off. One thing is that people need to be able to convince others of what they carry which is value than a mere paper certificate because some organizations are merely not focusing on that but what you have to offer which is being able to have this strong sense of communication and an act of influencing them with what you can. They see the boldness in you and feel you are fit for the job even if your qualification does not meet their criteria. Many of us do need to learn persuasive communication other than anything.

RE: RE: What's The Value Of Your Conversation? (Part 1)
This is exactly true. Some of the job interviews people go for, is to convince the employers that they are capable of the job they are trying to employ them for. It is not even enough to be qualified alone. The idea is to sell to them the concept of qualification, else they might push that person outside the door.

I understand your experience, and this is how it normally is for many teaching jobs that are trying to employ people for peanuts.
