<h2>Los ojos de la anciana</h2>

<div class="text-justify">Los ojos de la anciana miran con fijeza, sin saber a donde. Está concentrada en un punto que tal vez sólo existe en sus recuerdos. ¿Mira hacia afuera o hacia adentro?</div>
<div class="text-justify">Está en la plaza donde muchas veces estuvo, cuando su juventud le permitía caminar con gracia y agilidad, de un lado a otro. Allí había un gran mercado, allí compraba los alimentos para la semana. Allí vendía la leche de sus cabras. Allí había conocido al joven que fue el hombre de su vida. Allí estaba hoy mirando sin ver los árboles medio secos, ni los pocos transeúntes. Porque miraba sus recuerdos, enfocándose en un punto lejano. Esperando ver al hombre con quien había compartido su vida.</div><p></p>
<div class="text-justify">Tal vez esperaba ver también a su hijo mayor, perdido en las nubes del tiempo. Un día se fue. Nunca regresó. La niña, la menor, se quedó, se embarazó.  No supo de quien, parió y también desapareció en las nubes del tiempo, pero le dejó a la pequeña Nina, quien se casó y estuvo a su lado hasta que la muerte se la arrancó. Nina le dejó dos bisnietos; pero el padre se casó con otra mujer y los llevó a su casa. Anira volvió  a quedarse sola, pero alimentaba la esperanza de ver nuevamente a sus bisnietos, el padre se lo había prometido. Y ella creyó que así sería.</div><p></p>
<div class="text-justify">El rostro de Anira, lleno de los surcos que trazó su vida llena de dolor y privaciones, permanecía impasible, pero sus ojos grandes y aún hermosos buscaban en un punto fijo los rostros amados que habían formado parte de su vida. La plaza ya no era la misma, el suelo era ahora un piso de cemento. Los árboles tenían sus nichos y su riego. La vida parecía estar en reposo en la plaza. La mirada de Anira buscó un banco donde sentarse. Descansó, pero sus ojos se negaban a dejar la espera. Seguían fijos en aquel punto lejano, donde se asomaban sus recuerdos.</div><p></p>

There was a large market there, where she bought food for the week. There she sold the milk from her goats. There she had met the young man who was the man of her life. She there she was she today she looking without seeing the half-dried trees, nor the few passers-by. Because she looked at the memories of her, focusing on a distant point. Waiting to see the man with whom she had shared her life.</div><p></p>
<div class="text-justify"> perhaps she expected to see her eldest son too, lost in the clouds of time. One day she left. She never came back. The girl, the youngest, stayed, got pregnant. She did not know from whom, she gave birth and she also disappeared in the clouds of time, but she left little Nina, who married and was by her side until her death tore her away. Nina left him two great-grandchildren; but her father married another woman and took them to her house. Anira was left alone again, but she nurtured the hope of seeing her great-grandchildren again, her father had promised her. And she believed that it would.</div><p></p>
