On wages and our priorities in society

<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;The message this is attempting to convey seems pretty straight forward. I would like to make clear that I have no intention of debating this subject. I do have my own opinions (probably unpopular) however I would like to talk a little about this: &nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>First, I would like to recognize that I haven’t the slightest clue what it really takes to be a player in one of the most prestigious professional sports in the entire world. I can only imagine what these elite athletes have sacrificed in order to compete on such a level; not just an occupation but even more. A constant lifestyle dedicated to excellence. &nbsp;&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;With that said; how does this reflect on the priorities of society? Are we becoming a mirror image of the Roman Empire? Letting ourselves be distracted by all sorts of glamorous entertainment while the walls and foundation crumble beneath us? On a personal note; I spent more time this past week gazing over my fantasy football options than I dedicated to paying attention to relative current events. To justify my actions I could cop out and blame faceless entities such as the media who make such distractions easily accessible. Or maybe I could use the old absent voter’s cliché “I’m just one bloke and nothing I do will make a difference”<br>

&nbsp;Either way I would be lying to myself. What I do does make a difference. Money is invested in the things deemed most important. I may not at this time make-up as part of the majority but I am still part of the masses. My personal challenge is to be better informed, more active, and less distracted. A constant lifestyle dedicated to excellence. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

Fair enough, that little paragraph was actually taken from a guy i know on fb and didn't realise he had steemit and actually posted on here too. Most of my content is something what i or one of my friends said before in places that are insulated from the public. So i don't look at what i do as "plagiarism" but rather sharing interesting/informative content to an intelligent community that could otherwise be unknown (but definitely discoverable). 
You could say i should probably move to Reddit or something, but i do see much more potential in this community for intelligent discussion and free exchange of ideas and information without any kind of censorship or "troll-y" influences. And undeniably, the incentive helps too. Getting paid a little in cryptocurrency is a nice feeling. 

I'd say i came for the content and stayed for the reward.
