Lecturing life #2 - Marking of scripts

It's a tedious and tiring part of the life of a lecturer, marking. Apart from all the paperwork that we have to do, this is something I don't look forward to. However, I don't resent but try and find ways to enjoy marking.

*Exam scripts for one out of 3 subjects this semester*

So what do I do when I'm marking...

1. Listen to country music! (Uh huh, love country music)
2. Watch shows / movies that I have watched before so I do not have to oay attention to it but have it accompany me
3. Prepare loads of water and COFFEE
4. Set reminders to get up and stretch
5. Check and read other stuff on the internet to relax the mind
6. Get some hearty meal!

And most importantly... Get sufficient rest! That's most important. I wanna mark happy and have the mood to look through interesting handwritings and search for points to award marks for. Ain't an easy job actually because we're always scouting out for points to award marks against the contrary belief of lecturers degrading students.

You'll never get used to this part... Mind you, we have 2 more processes after marking where our scripts will be moderated and reviewed by other lecturers hence we can't do a shabby job.

Phew.... A long day it was and I hope this sharing of what I have to go through today and at least twice a year is sufficient enough to understand what lecturers have to go through. Now, it's time to wind down and chill! :) Then continue the process for another day, tomorrow! It shall be another good day!
