That's how the world works, people are getting greedy once the opportunity comes and they want more for themselves; they want to control people, they want to control geopolitics and they do everything they can for the sake of their own interest and that's how the world works that's simply Human have the fundamental traits like greed.

Just wanted to point out that, while Mockingbird may have officially ended with the Church Committee hearings, I disagree a bit with Ben that the infiltration of the media by the intelligence agencies ended. 

For example, when the Iraqi WMD lie emerged in the UK there was a ridiculous claim by the Blair Government that Saddam could have launched an attack against the UK mainland in 45minutes. This was in 2003, so not so long ago. It was Con Coughlin of the Telegraph who broke the 45-minute Iraqi WMD story in the UK.

Previously Coughlin had been forced to pay damages for a false story alleging that Muammar Gaddafi's son, Saif Gaddafi, was involved in a massive counterfeiting operation. Saif launched a libel action and the Telegraph were forced to acknowledge the story was completely fictitious. Con Coughlin divulged he had written the story on behalf of MI6, having met with then British Foreign Secretary Malcolm Rifkind and MI6 operatives. Coughlin also disclosed that he had been reporting MI6 supplied stories for years and had falsely attributed the stories to other sources to complete the deception. 

We know that MI6 worked with Blair's spin doctor Alistair Campbell to falsify intelligence as a casus beli for war in Iraq. All the evidence indicates that intelligence agencies have been consistently feeding disinformation to the media post Mockingbird, on both sides of the Atlantic. 

Similarly in the recent alleged poisoning of Sergei Skripal in the UK it is now known that the British Government issued reporting banning orders in the UK (called D notices) to stop the reporting of the fact that Skripal's handler had links to MI6's Jonathan Steele of the dodgy Trump dossier fame.  

For this and many other reasons I believe the media, on both sides of the Atlantic, are still closely intertwined.
