Sunset was brilliant over Turtle Bay when the Jinn and his forces finally reached the end of Montagnase Posee Rd. Ending abruptly at its intersection with East Coast Rd. the sands of the shoreline sparkled like gold.
The many small, suburb villages south of the larger town of Point La Rue brought curious eyes and many followers out of their homes. Finally, the Jinn halted the march and ordered that the tents be set-up for the night. He stood with his arms folded in the middle of the intersection and gazed north up the winding dirt road. Turning to his translator, he spoke…
“Tell the people that I am the Jinn of Aden, and I am marching on Victoria to over-throw Husam!”
“Yes Lord!”
At least twenty men had begun following the small army and the translator addressed them with the Jinn’s message. Hearing their intention, there was a great shout! At least sixteen young men praised the Jinn and promised to march with him while three of four of the older men stepped back and merely nodded. The translator relayed the news to the Jinn…
*“Tell them to go home and return with whatever weapon they may find! Anyone who fights to overthrow Husam will be rewarded handsomely!”*
“Yes Lord!”
As the evening wore on the many fires of the army camp burned bright under a starry sky. To the delight of the men, more than a dozen of the local women who were without husbands came to the camp and danced about the fires in celebration.
Local drink was had and before the moon shone bright, nature found its way as many couples, both foreign and local wandered off into the bushes to “know” one another. Their passions were released in moans and panting that seemed to rise and fall with the intoxicating rhythm of the camp drums.
The Jinn sat alone by the main fire. He had bigger things on his mind though many a young maid approached him. He counted in his head the numbers of his force…sixty-seven men at least. In his figuring he would gain many more in Point La Rue. But they must move fast! By now the news of their invasion had undoubtedly reached the ears of Husam in Victoria. The Jinn knew that his first move would be to send word to Commander Nabil of the war Dhow, to bring her back to the main island and the many warriors on her. If Husam was to be defeated by his rag-tag army, it must happen before the Nabil returned...
*[On the Silverton…early the next morning…]*
The Captain stepped up onto the main deck and his face looked haggard. Sleep had evidently evaded him through the night and he had the weight of two lives on his mind, one of which was like a son to him…
*“Swatch alife up thaur mates! Ahh don’t want anymair surprises oan thes ship!”* He yelled up to the forecastle, *“Petty Officer – Cooper Hemanwithnoname, Git yerself up intae 'att nest an' keep a yak oot in At-Elvis’s absence!”*
“Aye Sairrr!”
Petty Officers – Cooper, Yprecious and Ollingthunder were busy reeling up the davit blocks from the two longboats that departed in the night and carefully avoided the gaze of the Captain.
“Th' Keptin is in a foul muid tadays mucker! Best tae steer clear!” Yprecious warned as he secured the blocks on the rear of the hoist arm.
“Aye…he is! But he has a lot oan his shoolders. Tois wee Jimmies missin', an' one captured by savages! Loon Tipper has bin wi' heem since afair anyain can remembers!” Ollingthunder replied gravely.
“Even afair th' toor of Sooth Africar?”
“Even afair ‘att mucker!” Ollingthunder informed.
“Fock th’ day! Fur aw uir sakes, Ahh hopes Commander Galligan get's heem back alife!" Yprecious lamented.
“Aye…an’ me tay! Come oan, let's gang doon tae th' galley an' git uir plain an' a coffee!"
“Guid idea, *Ahh’m hungrier than a huir wolf!"* Yprecious agreed.
