The value of saving cannot be overemphasized. Every now and then, we are told that one of the smartest ways of getting financial independence is when we save. So many of us have tried to use whatever method that we find convenient to help us save. Whether by using a piggy bank, or by setting automatic savings or by saving your #hbd, all is just to ensure that we secure our finances which is a very good step. 
However, you can also look at the side of spending less too. When you spend less, you realize that you save more and you can invest more too. I also want to add that spending less takes a lot of determination and discipline. You have really hold yourself to be able to spend less because if you are someone that loves the luxurious lifestyle, it may be a little bit difficult to achieve this goal. But then it is not an impossible task.



Spending less involves cutting down every lifestyle that makes you spend unnecessarily such as buying things that you don't need. Before now, I use to spend my money on Shawarma almost every day. I realized that every week, i was spending almost 40% of my salary on just Shawarma. What I started doing was to prepare mine at home. I realized that this was cheaper for me and safer too as I was in charge of what was going into my stomach. This is the case of so many people too because a good number of people especially single men loves to eat outside every single day. This habit makes them spend more. My neighbour use to fall in this category until I finally decided to start cooking for him for a token. Every two weeks, he will tell me what he wants to eat and will pay me for my services. Soon he noticed that he had started saving more because he stopped eating outside. 




Another lifestyle is shopping too much. I saw a post sometime last year and the author (I cannot remember exactly) was talking about trying of shop more on discounted items. Truly, this helps you save more. Why buy something for $10 when you can buy for $5 on a discount. This is a new trick that I learnt and it has been working for me. I have a lady that sells beautiful clothes and every time and then, she does her discount sales which I try to catch that up. A lot of my clothes are bought through her sales which also has helped me save some penny. 



Lastly, try to always spend within your means of income. If you earn $100 please don't spend more than that $100 that you earn. My mum will say that *if you don't buy a particular thing, you will not die* and that's true. Once you understand this, it will be easy for you to spend less and save more.
