# Bitcoin has everything it needs for a massive bull market rally

If someone were to draw up a playbook with what they wanted to see in order to setup the perfect bull market rally for bitcoin, this current one would likely very closely resemble it.

What does this bull market have that others did not?

- More money involved
- More awareness
- More exchanges
- More people involved
- More regulatory clarity
- Legitimate Crypto projects
- Global money printing

Other bull markets for bitcoin had some of these things, but none of them had them to the degree we have them right now.

There is now more than $12 billion parked in stable coins globally, with more than $10 billion parked in USDT alone:

As you can see, the total market cap of tether has never been anywhere close to the current levels, and we are orders of magnitude higher than it was back in the bull market of 2017.

# Dry Powder just waiting to be deployed...

As I have mentioned in previous posts, while not guaranteed to enter the bitcoin market, a lot of that USDT money is "dry powder" waiting for the right push to go to work in the bitcoin and altcoin markets.

Compared to the $200 billion bitcoin market, $10 billion parked in tether may not sound like it would really even move the needle, but based on several reports showing that for every dollar invested in bitcoin/crypto the resulting market cap increase was a multiples of that, it certainly would move the needle.

Plus you know, there really isn't all that much liquidity on the exchanges if that kind of buying pressure were to come in.

So, we certainly have more money involved, but we also have more and better regulated exchanges as well as more and better crypto projects.

During the last major bull market in 2017, just about every coin within the Top 300 on Coinmarketcap went up anywhere from 10x to 100x, with very little regard for what that project actually had going for it.

This time around there are many more legitimate projects with legitimate use cases that I won't really go into here, but defi is certainly a big part of that.

# Regulatory clarity to be a game changer...

This time around there is a much clearer picture of who can do what and with whom in crypto land.

At this point in the bull market cycle back in late 2016 and early 2017 we weren't even sure if bitcoin was going to be banned or not by the US, now we have pretty clear guidance that it is not going to be.

A letter came out from the Comptroller of the Currency last week that put many of those fears to rest as they made it clear that federally chartered banks can custody bitcoin on their accord or on behalf of their clients.

The importance of regulatory clarity cannot be understated at this point.

Mainly because the group of investors that lacked that clarity hold the majority of the assets in the world.

Last I checked, banks held roughly $20 trillion in reserves while just the Top 15 custodied another $150 trillion on behalf of clients.

That is a tidal wave of money that was potentially opened to bitcoin and crypto.

While the vast majority of that may not be interested in bitcoin and crypto, some of it will, especially if it is running up day after day like it tends to do during bull markets, and it won't take much new money coming from them to really push the price skyward.

These are just a few small reasons why this bitcoin bull market will likely be very different than previous ones, but these small differences are likely going to make a mountain of a difference.
