# Baby Boomers currently hold a large portion of the nation's wealth, but that is going to change

The baby boomer generation, combined with the silent generation, currently holds the vast majority of the United State's wealth.

That may not be that surprising to most and it also may not be that surprising that neither of those generations are particularly interested in bitcoin as an investment...

However, millennials very much are:

And that is what should be interesting to most of us....

# Why does this matter?

According to a report put out by CoinShares, millennials are going to inherit close to $70 trillion from the above generations over the coming decades.

Which is more than 3x the United States current GDP for those of you that are counting.

That means that at as the years trickle by, we are going to see more and more wealth going into the demographic that is most interested in bitcoin, at least currently.

Decades are a long time and tastes and preferences tend to change, so there is no guarantee the taste for bitcoin holds up over the coming decades, but as of right now, things look pretty good for bitcoin's future.

The millennial generation was around for the 2008 stock market crash which makes them not trust the stock market, plus they already don't trust large organizations controlling their data.

Which is likely why they are so interested in bitcoin and may continue to be as time moves along.

# Good things come to those who wait...

So, while much of the older generation may not be that interested in bitcoin and crypto now, over the years, the generations that are will start accumulating more and more of the nation's wealth.

This is mostly presented from the perspective of the United States, but I would image the global trends are very much the same.
