There is a very special point in that fork of idyllic paths, as Borges would say, in which two rivers that originate in the most abrupt part of the Picos de Europa, join together, like eternal lovers, granting each other their generous gifts, which are nothing other than the richness of flows that are fed by the snows of winter and are the perfect mirror in which life is seen, when spring arrives and dissolves into that white gold, which is water, true joy of the surrounding mountains and valleys. The point, furthermore, could be the nerve center of an imaginary labyrinth of picturesque architecture, called Potes and is located in a sweet meander located in the vicinity of an old bridge, not far from where a formidable medieval tower, that of the Infantado, has watched over, since time immemorial, the winding paths that lead towards one of the most sacred and endearing places in Cantabria: the medieval monastery of San Martín de Turienzo, currently known as Santo Toribio de Liébana.

This point, this small corner, also constitutes a labyrinth of surprises, since, casually or causally, it reproduces that small magical and primordial center that characterizes one of the games and one of the most representative symbols of the Initiation that it represents, esoterically. speaking, the Saint James Way: box number 63, the Garden of the Goose. Perhaps for this reason or because, in addition, its telluric charm lends itself to exercising, in a spontaneous way, the right to daydream, it is the ideal place where the pilgrim usually rests, who, when the time in the mountains allows it, does not hesitate lying there and falling asleep deeply, letting the spirit fly to the rhythm of the wonderful lullaby offered by the beneficent waters, before facing the ascent to the old monastery of Santo Toribio, which, in addition to having a Gate of Forgiveness, guards inside the largest existing fragment of the Passion: the Lignum Crucis.

Hay un punto muy especial en esa bifurcación de senderos idílicos, como diría Borges, en el que dos ríos que nacen en lo más abrupto de los Picos de Europa, se unen, cual eternos amantes, otorgándose, el uno al otro, sus generosas dotes, que no son otra cosa que la riqueza de unos caudales que se alimentan de las nieves del invierno y son el espejo perfecto en el que se mira la vida, cuando llega la primavera y se deshacen en ese oro blanco, que es el agua, verdadera alegría de los montes y valles de alrededor. El punto, además, puede pasar por ser el centro neurálgico de un imaginario laberinto de pintoresca arquitectura, llamado Potes y se localiza en un dulce meandro situado en las inmediaciones de un viejo puente, no lejos de donde una formidable torre medieval, la del Infantado, vigila, desde tiempos inmemoriales, los tortuosos caminos que se dirigen hacia uno de los lugares más sagrados y entrañables de Cantabria: el monasterio medieval de San Martín de Turienzo, actualmente conocido como Santo Toribio de Liébana.

Este punto, este pequeño rincón, constituye, también, un laberinto de sorpresas, pues, casual o causalmente, reproduce ese pequeño centro mágico y primordial que caracteriza a uno de los juegos y a uno de los símbolos más representativos de la Iniciación que supone, esotéricamente hablando, el Camino de Santiago: la casilla número 63, el Jardín de la Oca. Quizás por ello o porque, además, su telúrico encanto se presta a ejercer, de una manera espontánea, el derecho a la ensoñación, es el lugar ideal donde suele descansar el peregrino, quien, cuando el tiempo en la montaña lo permite, no duda en tumbarse allí y dormirse profundamente, dejando al espíritu volar al compás de la maravillosa nana que le ofrecen las aguas bienhechoras, antes de afrontar el ascenso al viejo monasterio de Santo Toribio, que, además de tener una Puerta del Perdón, custodia en su interior el fragmento más grande que existe de la Pasión: el Lignum Crucis.
