How is your level of empathy?

In this case, the ex-saleswoman had made use of "Empathy", increasing her understanding of other people and making them enjoy her treatment of them.

Empathy is the ability to appreciate the feelings of another person without letting our emotions come into play to the point that they affect our judgment.
It serves to sharpen our perception in countless situations in our daily life. It is a state of mind susceptible to humanistic development and refinement.

Our most serious mistake in dealing with others is not giving enough importance to their feelings.

"Empathy" and "sympathy" are related, but while the latter says: "I feel like you", empathy says: "I know what you feel."

Empathy allows us to use our heads instead of our hearts. When one feels sorry for the misfortune that another suffers, he absorbs and reflects part of that suffering. The anxiety we experience can add to the misery of the other. But when we use empathy, we bring an intimate insight into the situation that infinitely relieves the person who is suffering.


### Personal Experience
Recently I could notice how a person, with whom I had an unpleasant situation in the past, joined my circle of friends and colleagues.
This person managed to stand out due to his faculties and knowledge.
I must confess that at first I was dismayed to see how this person was received by my peers despite the fact that in the past he had made harmful comments (lacking empathy) towards me. But at that moment, I had to imagine how that person could have felt when he acted badly, perhaps without having done the proper investigation of the facts or perhaps he was only carried away by his own impetus.

Once I achieved this degree of perception, I had the ability to understand and appreciate things from another perspective

### Conclution
We all naturally practice empathy without knowing it. Otherwise, we would find ourselves totally isolated from the rest of the world. We would be psychopaths.

The trick is to use force consciously knowing that other people will always want to share with us some signal about their state of mind, as long as we manage to get in tune with the feelings that inspire their words and actions.

Our recognition of their feelings, thanks to empathy, prevents us from getting hurt in our feelings.

The learning necessary to use empathy requires patience.
It is necessary to always bear in mind that empathy will be effective as long as we stand apart and acknowledge the feelings of another person without participating in them.

The effort is, however, compensatory.

hi @juanmolina - great article my friend on such a great topic.  Empathy is so important in the modern-day world as our emotions have evolved to protect us in a primitive setting.  They protected us well through their fight-of-flight reactions in our history but in the modern-day life setting they can let us down.  Being in touch with our own emotions and learning to read the emotions of others, will help us gain so much more from life and better relationships with those around us.

I believe that empathy is not something we look for within our inner self, but that it is born with us, susceptibility is closely linked, people who are very sentimental end up having high levels of empathy, however that can sometimes bring us problems in our lives.

But in general terms I think that empathy for others is something that is very good to have in our personality.

You are very right, if we do not take care of our attachments, perhaps many times we could get hurt in our feelings.
But when it is born from within as you say, it is almost impossible to fight against what we feel.

We all really need to practice empathy, many times we are approached by people whose behavior displeases us, and we are quick to judge and condemn their attitude, without even making an effort to understand it, and when we at least try to understand we realize that many times there are serious reasons behind it, and without empathy maybe our response could make their day worse.

Certainly, empathy is the main weapon of salespeople, it is to put themselves in the other person's place and make him/her perceive it in order to create an affective bond, which in the case of the salesperson is profitable, but in daily life it earns us friendships and people who love us.
It is confused with sympathy as you mention, hence the adage that says that it is better to be funny than to be funny.

For salespeople, empathy may work to increase their sales. But I think that in most cases it could not be considered empathy, since they would only be looking to make a sale, then they would not be truly interested in the feelings of others.

"Empathy" and "sympathy" are related, but while the latter says: "I feel like you", empathy says: "I know what you feel."" This sentence is special.
It makes the difference between one thing and another very clear indeed. I think empathy is something that allows us to truly communicate, from humanity. Because you have to be quite sensitive and at the same time intelligent to achieve it, and that it doesn't affect you emotionally, but rather that it opens your mind to the possibility of helping that person that you have finished understanding "how they feel".

You used a key word in all this: "Humanity."
Human sensitivity is what makes us think that the other person also feels the same as we feel.

Although it sounds little sense, we human beings must be "more human".
