I came across this initiative by @theycallmedan with the purpose of helping our fellow Hivean @jauregui98 and thought that it is an excellent initiative to share some personal reflections on the COVID-19 pandemic and how it has affected humanity.

<b>My Family Experience With COVID-19</b>
My wife and I were just talking about it last night over dinner and thought that we will still have a long way to go before vaccines start rolling out more efficiently here in the Philippines. My brother-in-law had a severe case of COVID-19 around August of last year and it was a difficult experience for the family. 

More recently, a college buddy of mine passed away from COVID-19. I heard that they really had a hard time finding a hospital that will accept them because every hospital they went to was full. They even went as far as Quezon Province, which was more than a hundred kilometers away. That was the time that new cases spiked and led to the strict lockdown being implemented today.

There are a few more people we knew who tested positive from the time that the pandemic started; some did not make it. So having known people who survived is a blessing in a way. Because we are confident that people do get well, eventually. And, that, despite the obvious challenges and difficulties, people will find a way to go through it. The will and the spirit have this energy and power that will help push a person to heal itself. You just have to want to get well.

<b>Support and Motivation</b>
Going back to my brother-in-law, he was lucky enough to be admitted to a government hospital because a slot had opened up just as they were going there. My niece stayed with him and took care of his needs, disregarding her own safety and health for almost a month, until he was released.

The family was in constant communication with them and called every now and then to see how he was doing and the condition that they were in. This helped a lot to reduce the stress and tension from having to go through that experience. My niece had just graduated from college and this was a huge trial that welcomed her to the realities of life. And aside from the financial strain, there is a psychological aspect that I felt was more difficult for the family and the patient.

<b>Conclusion</b>
Finally, this effort to help fellow Hiveans in their efforts to heal from COVID-19 is a blessing because in our experience with it, every ounce of support and motivation helps. 

Kudos to @theycallmedan for this initiative because, more than the financial and psychological aspect, this may help save lives.
