No energy is ours, we simply channel it. All energy existed before this body and will continue after we are gone because energy is never lost, only transmuted. Our aim is to become a better channel.

Like a vein or artery, we convey the energy, in its various forms, like light, sound, word or thought. The more open we are, the better the flow. If we try to cling to any of the energy as our own, it become like the wall of the vein that gets clogged up by that which should be flowing through it, not clinging to it.

A better analogy might be that of the bee. The bee flies from one beautiful flower to the next, collecting pollen. The bee tastes the best that the world has to offer, yet it is most successful when it carries the nectar to the hive, instead of enjoying it selfishly.

Anyone who collects hone knows that there might be nothing tastier than to dive deep into the river of liquid gold and drink deeply. However, such indulgence will perhaps cause one to get trapped in the sticky substance, like a fly whose wings have been stripped while his feet have been stuck with glue.

What was like nectar in the beginning might well become like poison in the end. And that's why sometimes what seems like poison in the beginning is going to become like nectar in the end. Ask any athlete who has been able to break through the limitations of their unfit muscles and eventually achieve peak performance along with glimpsing the taste of the runners high. 

When the hive is in synch and the bees are aligned with the desires of the queen, then all members work at their maximum capacity and achieve the best results for themselves and for the hive as a whole. Being aligned also need to occur within oneself, between ones heart and mind. When the resonance of both are in synch, then one can glimpse oneself at ones best. Such coherence brings not only healing but also the ability to better channel the current of life force for all around.

By realizing that the material world is a hard struggle for existence and that most are suffering here, the yogi or realized soul aim not to simply improve the material situation for themselves of others, but to be the best value possible to themselves and anyone else by facilitating the transition to the real destination at the end. They want everyone to attain liberation for the suffering of repeated birth and death.

So they act like the good doctor, the midwife, the shaman or the psychopomp and they facilitate the transition at the doorway, the threshold during the transition, whether that transition is a quick birth or a difficult labor, whether it takes a day, a week, a month or a lifetime. Some rare souls, it is said, return lifetime after lifetime to be of service to the other seekers on the way.

Satisfaction for them is seeing others also liberated and finding themselves once more. Nothing else is quite as valuable or meaningful.

Bhagavad Gita ch5:12

**युक्त: कर्मफलं त्यक्त्वा शान्तिमाप्‍नोति नैष्ठिकीम् ।
अयुक्त: कामकारेण फले सक्तो निबध्यते ॥ १२ ॥**

***yuktaḥ karma-phalaṁ tyaktvā
śāntim āpnoti naiṣṭhikīm
ayuktaḥ kāma-kāreṇa
phale sakto nibadhyate***

SYNONYMS
yuktaḥ—one who is engaged in devotional service; karma-phalam—the results of all activities; tyaktvā—giving up; śāntim—perfect peace; āpnoti—achieves; naiṣṭhikīm—unflinching; ayuktaḥ—one who is not in Kṛṣṇa consciousness; kāma-kāreṇa—for enjoying the result of work; phale—in the result; saktaḥ—attached; nibadhyate—becomes entangled.

TRANSLATION
**The steadily devoted soul attains unadulterated peace because he offers the result of all activities to Me; whereas a person who is not in union with the Divine, who is greedy for the fruits of his labor, becomes entangled.**

> PURPORT
The difference between a person in Kṛṣṇa consciousness and a person in bodily consciousness is that the former is attached to Kṛṣṇa, whereas the latter is attached to the results of his activities. The person who is attached to Kṛṣṇa and works for Him only is certainly a liberated person, and he is not anxious for fruitive rewards. In the Bhāgavatam, the cause of anxiety over the result of an activity is explained as being due to one's functioning in the conception of duality, that is, without knowledge of the Absolute Truth. Kṛṣṇa is the Supreme Absolute Truth, the Personality of Godhead. In Kṛṣṇa consciousness, there is no duality. All that exists is a product of Kṛṣṇa's energy, and Kṛṣṇa is all good. Therefore, activities in Kṛṣṇa consciousness are on the absolute plane; they are transcendental and have no material effect. One is, therefore, filled with peace in Kṛṣṇa consciousness. One who is, however, entangled in profit calculation for sense gratification cannot have that peace. This is the secret of Kṛṣṇa consciousness—realization that there is no existence besides Kṛṣṇa is the platform of peace and fearlessness.
