With Mercury transiting the sun right now, within cazimi or exact conjunction, we have a brief window of opportunity to harness the magic that it symbolizes. I know it favors trade and communication, with Mercury as the winged messenger.

However, because it is passing behind the sun this time, it may block the helpful rays of Mercury for a few days while it is hidden not only by the sun disk but by the sun's rays. Fortunately the few hours when cazimi occurs, or when Mercury is exactly conjunct, that is the window of opportunity. 

It may slip through our fingers like quicksilver, for that is its nature. If you can grasp   few bits of it, then feel blessed by having good timing and a receptive ear. Today is the day, for a few hours only. You can see in the chart presented here how the planets are aligning like parts of a clock. The solar system is one giant clock and we use it to time events here on earth. Thus time is relative. If we were somewhere other than earth, our sense of time would completely change.

The word cazimi is from the old medieval astrologers, Arabic and European, and means - in the heart of the sun, or - on the throne of the sun. It is when Mercury is most potent when so aligned. 

Since it is now behind the sun, it is invisible and may be debilitated. Geophysicists say that it could trigger extra earth shake-ups in the form of tectonic activity. So hang on as the place gets a bit shaken up on all levels. 

Mercury, as minister of trade and communication and transport, might allow us to catch better trades. May the trade winds be in your favor today.

Besides that, we are this year in the midst of a rare Saturn conjunction with Neptune, which I wrote about in earlier posts. You can see it on the horoscope chart wheel too, at the setting or descendant right hand side of the wheel. These slower alignments of the outer planets affect entire generations of people and denote historic shifts in generations, for example.

It's good to be aware that our mental health is also very much affected by the gravity of the Sun, Moon and planets in our solar system, albeit on a gentle level. We are all part of the great electro-magnetic dance of the spheres. 

The planets were seen as gods by the ancients, perhaps because their influence is subtle but unavoidable, like the climate. Some days will find us under the weather, and others over the moon.
