Today I will write about the Zeitgeist, showing what it is and how it can affect people's lives within the system in which they live.

Zeitgeist is a German term that means "spirit of time", that is, is a set of cultural characteristics that influence the thinking and decision-making of the people in relation to the context that live in your time. Something that may sound very strange to us when we look at the past, for they were very common, because this "spirit of the age beliefs of the Moldavian about what happened to your surroundings.

The Zeitgeist could be something both beneficial as harmful for a person or a collective system of thought. Let's take a few examples, from simplest to the most.

A few decades ago, our brazilian selection was feared by the times. Everyone who played against her tended to play in a more defensive-oriented system, because in your imagination, the brazilian selection was unbeatable and a tie yanked against her was already something amazing to imagine. Look what it caused in the times. Even if they had very good players on the other side, making it happen a balanced game or even having a higher volume of game shots of Brazil selection, these teams had in your "imagination" that they couldn't play very offensive because would take a lot of goals. It always kept them in an inferior position to our selection, the belief that the brazilian selection was superior, keep them "trapped" inside the camp. This would be a simpler example, because, win or lose in football doesn't change in almost the life of a person or a nation. However, that spirit has changed in recent years and the selections are no longer fear they face Brazil, so much so that, when the World Cup our team is seen as one of the favorite teams for the title, however, is just one of the teams Favorites. Is no longer seen by opponents as the selection to be beat.

On the other hand, I imagine that by influence of the brazilian selection which usually entered in competitions to get in first, the collective thinking of our people just exautasse who stayed in first in international football. I mean football, as in other sports, the settings below the first are well valued therefore the audience and athletes know that to reach that position, there was a lot of dedication. See the olímpíadas, in which, if the football team didn't stay in first is considered a disgrace for the team, however, if a Brazilian swimmer or a judoka to win a bronze medal, are considered "national heroes", therefore, achieved a feat that few can. It is applied in the campeonato brasileiro for example, where the champion is exalted and the runner-up is forgotten during the passage of the years. Think you readers, I like football. Try to list the Brazilian champions of recent years. After that, try to list the runners-up and third-placed of the dispute. You will see the difference that will be to evoke the times in memory. A big part will be able to list the champions, but imagine the other positions.

Another example, is related to the Renaissance, movement emerged in Italy in the 15th century. Within this Renaissance movement, the construction of many Catholic churches who had an impeccable architecture. The exponent of these architectural constructions, was Michelangelo Buonarotti, during 4 exhaustive years, designed and worked on painting the entire ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. To this day, many people travel to Europe, mainly to Italy, for churches and your aesthetic form. I imagine it should be one of the best contemplative experiences to the Christian people. Something for those who have the opportunity to visit, is forever marked in memory.

See a picture of the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, where the spirit of the Renaissance era no longer showed the man as an observer of the greatness of God, but, depicted as an expression of the God himself, causing his hands to both almost "touch".

Now, playing on a very serious matter, think on how this spirit of time can influence the evolution of a species from part of our society. For several decades, a scientist who can not remember the name assembled and published a scientific study showing that women had a lower intellect to the man. When your study was published, no one in the company denied. Possibly not even by people that what was written was something inauthentic. On the collective belief of the people of the time, both men and women, the man was higher, as were those who "developed society", with studies, writings, publications, technological developments, structural modifications (construction of bridges, buildings, etc.) while the woman did not have any involvement in these accomplishments. The problem raised here, is that the woman wasn't in these things, not because they do not have the capacity to do so, but be considered nonsense, vulgar and subversive a woman to do any activity that wasn't performed at home, that is, the men could leave to study, attend university courses, learn, reflect, think, etc. and women for a "cultural obligation", stayed at home taking care of the household chores and children. With that, they could not develop intellectually as men at that time. Today, for us, it seems absurd to think that only the man has developed intellect and that only he can produce something in the field of science, because we live in an era in which even the sexism existing in people's minds, is well reduced and the trend is that if reduce more and more over the years. However, at that time, was huge, making in the imagination of everyone (including the women), were conceived as inferior beings.

See how the "spirit of the age" can influence from something simple or hinder the evolution of a part of society? If we reflect, there are many beliefs within us that we can't see as erroneous, however, will be changed over the decades and generations to come will not be able to understand how we thought that ... In the same way that we now know clearly that the earth isn't flat, in a few decades or centuries people know that some our belief that we think it's irrefutable today, is nothing more than a belief within the spirit of the season.
