Zion Williamson has a big problem on a near daily basis we cover someone in the media proclaiming him as the next LeBron a future goat and the very least a superstar I bet you've never heard someone say Wow Zion could be the next Julius Randle the mainstream media has inhaled Zions three million Instagram followers and turned a cold shoulder to any and all doubt that an 18 year old is the next face of the NBA now we're down for this to happen.

We like Zion but sadly the chances of him becoming a perennial MVP are far lower than becoming a serviceable NBA player like Julius Randle can Zion play the same position in the NBA as you did in college is an unskilled athletic freak or someone that can maximize his unreal explosion against equally talented players by using his basketball IQ.

There are some big question marks and we want answers the absolute number one reason to tune out the Zion hype is his questionable position and unprecedented size we haven't seen him play on the perimeter enough he did the majority of his offensive work from the block at Duke it doesn't matter how much he weighs how much he benches or how many YouTube views he has at six seven he'll be a solid three inches shy of the bigs in the NBA and at 285 pounds he'll be a whopping 50 pounds heavier than the heaviest guard.

 It's a big question mark whether Zion size will benefit him but if history is any indication we might have a problem think back to 2010 the NBA was obsessed with the 6/8 tweener from Arizona named Derrick Williams. Williams was otherworldly athletic he locked up the pac-12 Player of the Year and dropped 32 on number one seeded Duke to drag Arizona to the Elite Eight Williams became a consensus top 5 pick despite everyone knowing he couldn't shoot and questioning if he could play forward or guard just like Zion.

 Later that summer the Timberwolves would repeat a mistake made too many times to count throughout NBA history drafting athleticism over skill the t-wolves took Williams at number 2 overall while freakishly skilled players like Kemba Walker klay Thompson and Kawhi Leonard all went after him in the lottery think about it building around athleticism doesn't have a good track record in today's NBA supreme athletes like Derrick Rose John Wall and Russell Westbrook have all failed to be the cornerstone of title contending teams.

 You can only jump over and Bowl through defenders for so long now think about the players who are being successfully built around James Harden he isn't fast and can't jump very high Steph Curry undersized not a speed merchant and gets targeted on defense Luka Doncic looks like he spent all summer eating McDonald's for four fours but these guys don't create posters they create contenders now that your mind is liberated from the media driven Zion hypetrain you must be wondering who were running with he's a former two-star recruit and au teammate of Zions JA Morant's in two years.
