The Mysterious Case of the Follow Button

If you've used Steemit for any length of time you've probably noticed you can follow other Steemers by clicking a follow button in their profile.

What you may not have noticed is the button does... nothing?!

The even more curious among us may have noticed another useless feature on Steemit... the dreaded "Recommended" section,

Which of course leads to a whole lot of nothing:

Could these worthless features be related? Might we one day see the people we follow providing content to our Recommended section? Only time will tell. For now none of us plebeians knows for sure.

It has been said that follows are recorded to the blockchain, and Steemit is lagging on implementing the feature.

I'd be happy if there was a link to a page that listed articles from everyone I follow.  It would also be nice if it showed just who I was following!

Steemit is still in beta... I wouldn't be surprised that those functions are implemented in the near future. Hopefully they will, it would be a lot easier to find my Steem buddies!

Ya, I definitely don't expect things to be perfect -- and they are damn good already! 

But if I were developing this I might, you know, not show the button and section at all until they actually do something.
