Hello everyone in the hive blockchain. I hope you’re all doing well and enjoying the weather wherever you are. Welcome to my blog. 

Indeed we live in a small world. We live in a small world and that is why we should be careful about the things we do. Help someone today and you don’t know when they’ll be of help. The world is such a small place and you don’t know when or where your good deeds will payout. 

If you’ve been checking out my blog and reading my posts, you’ll know how much I respect, love, and adore my mom. I grew up with my mom and I spent more time with her than I did with my dad. My dad is also nice, but my mom is understanding. I understand why; she’s a mother. And a mother who knows how to take care of her children. 

Growing up, I stayed side by side with my mom and I learned a lot of things from her. I remember how she used to tell my siblings and i stories. Interesting stories about animals (and some other things). She made sure she told us interesting stories that were educative. And at the end of her stories, she’d ask us what we learned from them. 

Those times were the best. It is so sad that we no longer do that (storytelling). I understand why. You can’t get everything you want. I’ve also wished to go back to the past and experience how my childhood was all over again. But now, everyone is in different places. 

My mom made sure she showed her children good characters, and that is why she is my role model. She taught me almost everything I know. 

My mom grew up in Lagos, one of the most crowded states in Nigeria. She grew up with her parents who were also kind-hearted people. Just like her, her parents were also nice people. 

“Do well, help someone because you don’t know when they’d be of help” this is one of my mom’s many teachings. CHARITY. Give people something out of your free will without expecting something in return. “Your reward is not here on earth, your reward is in heaven which moths and insects cannot reach” my mom will always say. 

She is the most charitable person I know. She can spend her last dime just to make people happy. There was a time when things were very hard for my family. My elder sister just gained admitted into a private university and her school fees were quite expensive. My mom didn’t have much on her hands and my dad’s business wasn’t doing so well. My mom and dad managed to pay off my sister’s school fees and we were left with almost nothing. 

The last money that was in my mom’s account was what we budgeted to buy foodstuff. My mom’s sister had a problem and she needed a huge amount of money. My mom shared that money in two and gave her sister half of it. My dad was so angry, not to lie, we were all angry. But my mom knew what she did. She always says “do good and you’ll receive back in multiple folds'. 

I can’t count how many times my mom has spent her last card on people. Sometimes when I  think it is getting too much, I get angry. But as time went on, I understood her. That is just how she is. You cannot change that about her. She was born to help, to do good, and to put a smile on people’s faces and no one can change that. 


**The world is a small place**
After my siblings graduated and started working, I was the only one at home with my parents. I was in SSS2 (Senior Secondary School 2) and school was on break. My mom and I used to trek to church every day. 

On this fateful day, my mom and I were so tired because we had done a lot of work in the church (it was a Saturday, so we cleaned the church). We couldn’t trek so we stopped to take a bike home. A bike man parked in front of us, he looked unhappy as if something was bothering him. My mom noticed immediately and asked him what was wrong with him. 

The bike man narrated how life has been harsh on him. He used to work as a tailor and his business was doing well. He saved a lot of money which he planned to use to build his house. After saving so much, his wife stole his money and ran away with it. He borrowed money from his friends and when he couldn’t pay it back, they carried all his equipment. 

My mom felt for him. I also did. When the man dropped us home, my mom told him to wait. She went inside and brought out an envelope. The man came down from his bike and prostrated, thanking my mom. 

I don’t know how much my mom gave him. I never bothered to ask her. But I was sure it is money that was inside the envelope. 

My mom and I forgot about the bike man. We never thought we would see him again. But a year later, something surprising happened. 

I was in SSS3, my last year in high school. I recalled that was the time I fell sick for 1 week. I was unable to eat, walk or do anything for a whole week. Unfortunately, my JAMB (Joint Admission Matriculation Board) was a day after and I was still very weak. On D-Day (my exam day) I was still very weak and unable to walk properly. To worsen the case, the rain started falling. My exam was scheduled for 9 am. The rain was so heavy that there was no one outside. 

The JAMB exam is just once in a year. If you miss it, you have to wait till the next year. The rain stopped around 8:20, but there was still no bikeman outside. My mom and I stayed at the junction for about 20 minutes. Suddenly, a bike man parked in front of us. It was that man! Yes, the same man my mom helped! He recognized us. My mom is not good at remembering people and I was too weak to even look up. 

He reminded us about her we helped him that day. He carried me to my exam center. I was unable to walk, and he offered to carry me inside the exam hall. He waited for 2 hours till I finished my exam. He brought me back home after my exam. What a small world we live in! My mom’s good deed paid off after 1 year. If I hadn't cane to help, I would've probably missed my exam. 

In conclusion, 
In this life, we should be kind to people. Do good without expecting anything in return because you never know who will come to your aid in the future.
