Sucks, but Suriname is the worst place to buy a boat. The small population size and the fact the waters our brown here means most sailors don't venture here, and therefore never end their journeys here. I've heard Panama and Belize are good places to buy boats, and Panama offers a 180-day visa-on-arrival for Cambodians. We had hoped to buy a boat while working in the USA, but if things don't improve we might have to buy one in another country and set sail from there.

EUROS and US DOLLARS are held here as security because nobody wants to much of the local currency. Due to the exchange rates changing daily, most people hold EUROS or US DOLLARS and only change to SRD what they need for a week or more. The Chinese supermarkets will exchange money, but the rate often isn't as good as going to a Cambio.

Funny you mentioned it, my Mom has just put $200 USD in a package she's shipped via a freight forwarder in Miami. If it works, it'll be an affordable way to get items and hidden cash from abroad. Unfortunately we don't have a mailing address, and standard shipping has resulted in the loss of 2 out of 3 packages. !ENGAGE 70

I saw some pictures of the panic-buying going on in your part of the world, sounds like you're in for a rollercoaster ride of sorts. 2 hours for a roti is not worth it, unless it is the best roti ever, and even then probably not. Hoping things don't get much worse there my friend. !ENGAGE 35

This isn't the first time 3Speak and PeakD have had syncing issues. For me it's working fine, but there are sometimes certain interfaces that get buggy with 3Speak. I wonder if you were able to watch any other 3Speak videos from your phone without error?  !ENGAGE 10

I'll admit it gets hard to control my emotions at times. It seems mixed nationality families weren't taken into consideration by either one of our governments when the whole world started evacuation flights and encouraging citizens to return home. All it taught us was that we don't have a nation as a family, so staying stranded here in Suriname during some pretty hell-ish conditions is the only way to be together. Not like I vote or anything, but things like this are extra reminders why I have no country or party to fight for. !ENGAGE 15

I pointed to the sign with the examples of what can't be worn, but that only insulted the guy's ego more. Ego is the most dangerous drug in the Caribbean, and one my biggest pet peeves about life in this part of the world. Hope to see you and Joel a second time before we get out of here.
