This view taken in the 1990's is from the pathway descending from Lycabettus, the hill very visible in Athens and one which both inspires and receives many visitors. St George chapel is atop this rocky and pine covered hill, and Easter there is a big event, with people holding lighted candles everywhere on the Easter Saturday. Lycabettus was a favourite place of mine of mine to visit when I lived in that great city, with it's hustle and bustle, gorgeous sunshine on most days, and it's lovely people. The view from this spot had hardly changed.

"Yia sou!" from my friendly greengrocer on the market place. People don't forget you if you smile and are willing to chat. Over the years this becomes easier because you are known and trusted, a most important factor in any nationality. The friendliness means that years later I can return and if they are still there, I will be greated as an old friend. 

I will be writing more about Athens and its inhabitants and great wonders, or which there are many, and meanwhile if you get the opportunity to visit there, don't hesitate. It will be an experience of a lifetime.
